My daughter has an allergy to milk protein. She is on Neocate formula which costs around $38.00/CAN.
Does anyone have any advice on getting insurance companies to assist with paying for the formula? Our insurance company denied it after several calls from our doctor, so we have since changed companies and will be filing it with our new company.
TIA~

Neocate was our next step if the nutramagen didn't work for him... it seemed to... how old is your daughter? My son is two now and we just took him to an allergist and he tested negative on level one for milk but they still think it is a milk allergy... the allergist wants him completely off milk, all milk products... there are so many things that contain milk that you wouldn't even dream of...did you know some hot dogs and bologna have casein in them for binders... caesin is a deritive of milk... you might find some helpful info at "Food Allergy Network"... I just want someone to be able to help me... seems like all the doctors just throw you out there on your own and say deal with it... there are a few drinks like rice dream and soy moo that he could drink now... but they taste terrible and he won't touch them... I also have a five yr old that is a milk guzzler... it is soooooo hard... they say most likely he will grow out of it... but I need some advice and some definites... like he can eat these products and these he can't... I think I will probably go crazy reading all these labels... good luck to you... maybe we can help each other...

My daughter is 4.5 months old. They told us at 4-5 weeks that she had an allergy to milk protein.
I didn't know that all of that had caesin in it. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif I knew that we were in for a rough road if she didn't outgrow this, but I hadn't really explored all the ingredient information yet.
Are they going to just keep testing your son or when are you supposed to try to introduce milk again?
Good luck to you too. I would love to keep in touch and share information. Email me anytime~
Edited to say: Oops, just saw that my email is not available on this site. Let me know if you want to swap info.

Watch out for that casein stuff! It's even in 'non-dairy' stuff like non-dairy creamer!
