I've been taking Trazodone for the last 6 years. I have been feeling tired when I wake up but I didn't think it had to do with the Trazodone. I'm going to see my doctor next week and I'd like to find something else to take to help me sleep. Anyone have something I can suggest to the doctor to prescribe for me?

How often do you take Ambien? I was taking Trazodone every night.

ambien is not normally prescribed for people to take on a nightly basis unless they have severe sleeping problems. i'm not sure what your situation is, but if you are having problems sleeping you may want to stress these problems to your doctor to see if they would give you a script for something or possibly see another doctor for a second opinion. some doctors push drugs and some don't, it all depends who you see...

If your doctor refuses to give you Ambien (and you didn't previously have a bad experience on them) then it's quite possible you should start seeing a new doctor.
I had a wonderful doctor who left the practice only to be replaced by some unfeeling, uncaring hack who wouldn't give me ANY help. In fact, she said she was "uncomfortable" treating me and wanted me to stop seeing her altogether - so I did. And it was a great move.
I found, through word of mouth, a fantastic, caring doctor who trusts my judgement and refills my Ambien each month. He listens when I go to him with concerns and writes me scripts accordingly.
Recently a loved one has had MAJOR problems with my Ambien intake so I went to the new doctor who wrote me a script for non-addictive, anxiety-treating Trazodone, which has a side effect of sleepiness. So far, it works great and everyone is happy.

Seriously, if your doctor won't fill Ambien for you then you might want to find someone who will - it really does work wonders.
