Hi,
Sometimes when my neck gets really sore or uncomfortable, my left triceps muscle starts visibly jumping and quivering. Is the jumping a sign that a nerve is pinched, or that it's regenerating? Anyone else had this? Thanks.

Yes that is common to the nerve being affected by some sort of pinching of it or compression of it; it could be muscle guarding and compressing the nerve or disc problem. Definitely this is associated with the neck muscle and shoulder problem as the discs have nerves that traverse down from the neck into the shoulder and down the arms to the fingers specifically the thumb.
I have a herniated disc and the first thing I noticed was like this tiny burping feeling down my arm or like little pulsations in my skin and yes you can often see the nerve tremor the muscle in that area.
I would ask a neurologist to have a cat scan or mri as you may be able to nip your problem in the bud early as opposed to those of us who have this which leads to more problematic/serious disc herniations or who have this symptom in conjunction with other disc problem symptoms.
Good luck and talk to a chiro or physiotherapist as some dr's see no large problem and don't jump on the bandwagon. I went all summer with ribs x-rayed only, and then my disc herniated so badly in the fall it compressed my spinal chord and I was right side paralyzed for two weeks. My chiro was the most learned and instrumental in diagnosis and has ended up getting me the neurologist who will do my surgery this Monday while my g.p. has her nose out of joint for doing little and my not picking the dr. she referred.
ADVOCATE for yourself now while the only problem/symptom you have is this and read a lot on this forum as many people have much knowledge that is sensible here.
GOOD LUCK BUDDY, NERO

Thanks Nero,
I have an appointment with a neurologist in a few weeks. I'm definitely going to bring it up. Thank you for the response!

I had the same thing today
I have had c6/c7 left disk herniation/bone spurs
just had surgery last Tuesday with Dr Jho
had about 15 minutes worth of twitching today
in my case, perhaps because the nerve has decompressed , residual swelling
guarantee you have c6/c7 left herniation/impingement
Mike
