I've recently (in the past 9 months) developed an annoying problem. I have been a social drinker throughout my entire life with no problems; however, I recently started having problems. Whenever I drink alcohol, I start to get searing pain in my sinus under my eye. It then spreads to my temples and then my nose gets incredibly stuffed. It normally begins after a few drinks of alcohol. I've seen an ENT, who says he sees no problem. I recently saw an allergist, who recommended that I use Nasonex every day to try and clear up my sinuses. Has anyone ever encountered this problem? None of the doctors seem to recognize exactly what it is.

Dehydration. I can feel the effects after just one drink. Try drinking a glass of water to every drink you have.

Alcohol is made with yeast. Lots of folks are allergic to yeast, and you may be also. This can cause the symptoms you are having. Hope this helps.

It looks as if the Nasonex may be doing the trick. Thanks for all your help, though.

As far as being allergic to yeast...its quite possible that I am. Even the allergist himself was startled by how many swollen bumps I had in my arm after my first allergy test. I'm sure yeast was one of the many.
