Hi everyone,
My Mum has a really bad allergy but we dont know what too!
Shes seena specialised he says shes allergic to water (great diagnosis yeh) she gets this itchy red lumps all over her body, water could be acause but that doesnt explin why she wakes up with the rashes and goes to bed with them. They move from place to place and when they appear on her face you cannot tell it is her so she wont go out. These rahes are driving her crazy. The doc gave her tablets for Hives, but theses just do not help.
Any Advise

She should see an allergist. They can tell if she is having anallergic reaction to something. It could be a food allergy.

Littlehope, maybe she should see a different doctor and get another opinion. In the meantime, help her try to help herself by thinking back to when this first started and she may remember a change she made in her diet, household cleaning supplies, bathing items etc. Is the rash her only symptom? Has she moved to a new place and the water is different? Has she changed handsoap, laundry soaps, fabric softeners or drier sheets? It could be so many different things, that I would help her remember when it started so she can atleast have an idea. Good luck

Don't rule out an allergy to water or one of the chemicals used to purify it. It is very very rare, but I have heard of it before. She should definitely get a second opinion.

Hi, that's not as crazy as it sounds considering the stuff that is put into the water in Britain. I think if you read a list you'd be suprised!...do a search on water filters and water contaminants.
Type in "drinking water inspectorate" on google.com - if it takes you to the same site as me we're washing in and drinking some nasty stuff!

First of all, don't call your mom an alien b/c that's not a nice thing to say. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/nono.gif Secondly, I think I suffer from the same problem as your mom. Whenever I have an allergy attack, I get these huge rashes or hives all over my body! I even get hives the size of dinner plates on my chest! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/eek.gif The worst hives that occur are on my eyelids, lips, nose, and groin area. I was treated for it a long long time ago and the doctor didn't exactly know what it was. They gave me a list of allergens so I was allergic to basically everything. From dog hair to beef! They also put me on medication which I took daily. Over the years, it has gone away but not totally. I still get rahes here and there but not so bad, tolerable actually. The last bad rash attack was after I had some fried calamari about a month ago. My face was completely swollen, red, and aching! Looked like I was just in a brawl and got the snot kicked out of me!! I took some zyrtec and it fortunately went away by the next day. A friend of mine has the same problem and takes medication daily for it. The doctor told him it was due to an uncontrollable release of hystamines. He takes zoloft or zyrtec to control it. Your mom might want to look into if she isn't taking any medication. To date, there is no known cure for this. I wish there was...
