Has anyone ever run out of meds before they were supposed to?? On 10/30 my doc gave me 90 norco 10/325's and 10 duragesic patches, I only have 3 patches left (one of the boxes was short one patch for some unknown reason which really put me in a bind) and for the last week it seems I just have been in one giant flare. Im running out of my BT meds, and I know the patches will not last me until my next appt on 11/27 , what to do? Has this ever happened to any of you? Recently this pain is never ending, I think it is due to the cold weather. I don't want to call my doc and ask for more meds in fear that he will think im taking too much, but Im having to take my BT meds 4-5 times daily for this pain. Im not too sure of what to do, maybe the patch he gave me is not strong enough (I have the 25 mcg patch for starters) guys I need ideas can anyone give me any suggestions? Another problem is that my insurance only pays for so many meds in a certain amount of time.

I have been going to the same doctor for 5 years. I get good results by asking for my doctor's voice mail. I explain the situation. If you were shorted one patch, tell them so. If it isn't strong enough be truthful. Ask for another prescription for an increase. No one knows your pain level but you. Don't worry about looking like a drug seeker!
The doctor can call in a subscription to yur pharmacy. His office nurse can call you back if necessary. I get my meds mailed to me in bad weather. (It costs an additional $2.00 for one or ten drugs, but worth it to me physically) I call my pharmacy for refills. If you need a refill you can sometimes get it done by phone and mail. If you need a prescription increase in strength, the insurance will usually pay for a new prescription. (Even if it is in the same month.)
In the beginning my doctor wanted to see me everytime ther was a change. Now, he does most of my meds by phone. It depends on how well your doctor knows you as a patient. Don't be afraid to try the phone method first. Cold weather makes me ache all over and traveling to the doctor's office and pharmacy is hard to do in the winter. I write my check to the pharmacy or doctor as soon as I get the medication. (I pay or co-pay, whatever is necessary by mail also.) I hope this is the advice you needed. MistyMisty
