Could someone give me some advice on fasting? I would like to do a 3 to 5 day fast to see if it helps my allergies and just to rid my body of excess toxins. I've heard that if you do it right it is very healing to the body. Do I need to consult my doctor about this? I don't have any other major health problems. Also, do you mix both fruit juice and vegetable juices. Like, in the morning a fruit juice and the rest of the day vegetable? Thanks for your input.

Juice fasting is not techincally fasting,it is a liquitarian elimination diet.I would recommend looking at some fasting books before you do anything, just to have the basics."Juice Fasting & Detoxification," by Steve Meyerowitz,is a good one try.Good Luck

I have done a variety of fasts. I would not recommend a juice fast because it is high in sugar if you are using fruit. It is best to do ALOT of researcj before your fast, and plan it. You should eat raw fruits and veggies for two days before and after the fast, if you are doing a liquid one. I like the spirulina micro algae fast because it is liquid and high in protien and other nutrients. Good luck!
