When I eat salads my mouth seems to itch and the corners of my mouth get very chapped. I also suffer from dry eyes, and headaches. I wonder if all of these are related. Is anyone else allergic to salads. It seems that it is mostly the lettice, tomatoes, cucumbers and cheese. I am also allergic to peas from a pod.

Hi,
If you already have food allergies, then these can all be related.
Have you had any food allergy tests done at all? If not then do go and get them done. I would suggest both the skin prick tests, which tests IgE sensitivity and having blood taken to check for IgG sensitivity in the case of any stomach problems from eating the foods too.
I was having stomach problems for quite a long time and when I went to see my doc, he diagnosed IBS. My symptoms were not getting any better and on returning home from France earlier in the year and had very bad stomach and skin problems. I went back to see my doc who suggested allergy/intolerance tests and I found out that I had allergies to wheat, dairy products and some other things. Having cut these out of my diet totally, I am feeling a lot better, my stomach is better now and I have a lot more energy too.
Get tested and cut them out of your diet and see if you feel better.
Good luck

Possibly something on the vegetables? My sister can only eat apples if the skin is off & it's rinsed thoroughly after (she could wash them with soap & water but really, who wants to eat food that you have to wash in soap & water!) There's a type of mold that grows on the skin of the fruit & you'd never know it was there unless you analyzed it or if you're allergic. I'd refrain from ordering salads out & when making them at home--wash ingredients thoroughly & use a veggie brush. See if that helps.

It could also be the pesticides that are being used to kill the bugs when the vegetables are being grown. Wash all of them very thoroughly, and try to buy only organic fruits and vegetables, because those should be pesticide free.
