OK Everyone, I've been all over the boards searching for answers and now I am going to summarize my symptoms. I do suffer from anxiety and depression but I have a hard time believing all of what I am experiencing is related to that.

I'll start with extremely foggy headed w/memory loss, Can't clearly think what I did hours before.
sometimes shooting pains in head, not an every day thing but, an occassional thing.
My surroundings seem to shift alot, actually to the point where I can't drive any longer and even have a hard time as a passenger. This has been one of my most debilitating symptoms. Started about 4 months ago and is becoming steadily worse.
Mild acne (I am 26) never suffered from this in my teens.
irregular periods, I have always had extremely heavy, irregular (always got it within 10 days of due date) periods. In June it started my period was 10 days of a black/brown discharge and maybe one day where I noticed a little pinkish red blood. In July I had a regular cycle until the end of the month where I had another 10 days of black/brown. So, in July I had one week of regular bleeding and 10 days of black/brown. August, more black/brown but more bleeding interspersed. September, getting more normal. October and November I am getting actual bleeding but more of a melon color not bright red. Sorry so graphic. Also wanted to mention, absolutely no cramping at all. Again sorry so graphic but no odor either.
Eyes are irritated alot and sometimes feel pressure.
tachycardia, have suffered with this for 2 yrs and am on atenolol
acid reflux every day have only recently started suffering with this.

I feel it is important that you know that I was in a car accident a year ago and suffered a traumatic brain injury. I have had a blood test for thyroid and my TSH levels are at 6.0. Dr said that isn'tanything to worry about. So, everyone what do you think? All stress or is something else at work here? One more important thing that actually happened for the first time today. I called into work today to take a personal day, I was supposed t work 3-11:30 and I called in at 1:30 to see if I could use my personal day, they told me I had already called in and they had granted my day off. I said are you sure? They said they were positive it was me and recalled details of the conversation, personal details of my life they had asked me about. I say they because baffled I called in again and spoke with the other secretary who confirmed that I had indeed called in. I have absolutely NO recollection of any of this conversation that had taken place only 3 and a half hours before. I try to remember what I was doing at 10 am and there is a gap from about 9:30-11. This has never happened to me before and I am terrified by it.

I would really appreciate any feed back. I have a Dr appt on the 18th and if anyone has any thoughts on this please let me know.

brain injuries will affect your memory so this is not unexpected. are you seeing a neuropsychologist specialising in head injury rehabilitation?

No, I am not seeing a neuropsychologist. Thank you for mentioning it, I have no idea where to turn, so I thank you for your response :) I will definitely check into seeing one.

Your wide range of what sounds to me like serious symptoms suggest that this may be something new or thus far undiagnosed. I would go to another Doc. with all of these symptoms, and note his response. It may be something easily treated that will help many of these sysmptoms. I'm not an expert in any sence and know almost nothing about poison, but couldn't help wonder about it reading your post.

Many of the symptoms you mention are assosciated with depression and anxiety disorders.
Have you considered seeing an endocrinologist with regards to your irregular periods?
PCOS is often linked with depression and of course irregular cycles.

I hope you get better soon.

Thanx for the replies everyone. I have only recently learned about pcos and agree that alot of my symptoms are similar, I have also learned that I may have type II diabetes and am addressing that as well. I definitely agree that I do suffer from alot of stress and anxiety issues and am working on them, but anxiety is something I've been dealing with for years and my body has been doing alot of really strange and new things that have caused me concern. My problem now is finding a Dr. who will listen to me since my Dr. has left his practice and I am not happy with the new Dr that has taken over. I am scheduled to see an opthalmologist in 2 weeks and if all is clear there than my Dr wants me to see a neurologist. So, hopefully somewhere along the line I will get an answer. Keep your fingers crossed everyone

It sounds like a thyroid disorder. The new ranges are .30-3.0. Your TSH is 6.0 well above the 3.0. I have a thyroid disorder and my TSH was 1.61 at the time of diagnosis. You need a new doctor who knows what he/she is doing. The TSH is very unreliable in predicitng thyroid disorders alone. You need to ask for an antibodies test, Free T3 and a Free T4 to see the whole picture of what is going on. You also need to read up on thyroid disorders to learn as much as you can be become an informed patient. It is also an excellent idea to learn about the different meds that are available as doctors loooooooove to prescribe synthroid.Good Luck to you. In the meantime you may want to try selenium 200mcgs to helps T4 convert into T3 and take 400 i.u.s of vitamin e (not made from soy as soy is harmful to your thyroid as it helps inhibit it's function) the vit e works along with the selenium.Good Luck to you. Fire this doc and move on to someone that actually cares about yopur symptoms and is informed, this one is a quack..quack!!!

Cahcinderella--
All of your symptoms sound like hypothyroid. I know because I have this, was DX'd in July, but I had a lot of symptoms for at least 2 years, and it just kept getting worse. The brain fog, lapse of memory, irregular periods, irritated eyes, all of this is common with hypothyroid. You might want to visit the thyroid boards and look at the thread, "Let's post our stories", at the top of the index page. And you're Dr. is wrong about your TSH of 6.0 being normal, a lot of ppl are DX'd hypo with a lower TSH than that.
Good luck

I'm sorry guys. The last time I went to the Dr. (about 2 weeks ago) I asked her for my TSH levels it is a .653 not 6.0. This mistake was made because the Dr who gave me my results said, " Your TSH level is a 6 which is normal" so I assumed he meant 6.0. I am still searching for th answers to my symptoms and am looking for a new Dr to go to. I feel I either have a thyroid problem or PCOS. I will mention this to my Gyn who I go to see on the 23. Thanx everyone for your advise. ~cindy~
