Well, when I was surfing the Internet I found this web site that looks very informative. Maybe someone here has had the same problem as me. It's going on fourteen months that I have had a small hole on my heel that is extremly painfull. I am on my second doctor who is not sure what it is either but is at least trying to help me. It's basically an open wound that will not heal. We just tried a cast for two weeks. It was suspended in there with nothing touching it with the thought that it would start to heal if I did not walk on it. That did not work. It looks like my doc would like to try a small incision with the hope that that would heal and be the end of that. At this point I'll try anything. I've only come across one person who has this and his doctor just keeps on changing the dressing and that's it.

It sounds like an ulcer.
Have you looked into orthotics to wear, to help relieve the pressure your heel is taking? Too much pressure on parts of your feet can cause ulcers.
Good luck!

Good luck! Thanks for the Input. As a matter of fact yes I have tried heel orthotics and I still feel the pain. I actually had a visit today with my doc and she worked on it and that is exactly what she called it. An ulcer. She is the second doc to see it and I'm pleased she is actually tying to help after 14 months. The pediotrist was no help at all. This is an orthopedic doctor that specializes in ankle and feet. Thanks again for your for input. Take care
