Hi...I have found that this board is the most helpful source of information out there! I am having surgery on my left foot (bone wedge bunionectomy). I used to have a lot of questions but I found the more i read on here the less questions I have.....Is there anything that can go over the foot so you can shower before the stitches come off, or do you just have to take a bath with the foot hanging out?

Hi ASHLEY,
Yes, there is something that you can use over the bandages, etc ..It is called a shower guard. I bought one from my Pod doc and it is great!!..It cost about $15.00 and worth every penny since I was in bandages till 6 weeks post-op.
Best to you on your surgery.....!!

Hi Maya,
Thanks for the info on the shower guard. Sounds like it will be well worth a $15 investment.....What kind of procedure did you have and when?

Hi Ashley,
I had bunion surgery on July 23rd, am now 4 mos post-op.
I forget the exact name of the bunion surgery that I had.
But, I am doing well now...I would say that I am 97% there!!...with the biggest improvement in the past month.

Maya,
Glad to hear your recovery is going so well. It eases my mind b/c my surgery is Dec. 23 and I'm getting married on May 22 of next year. I was hoping I would be pretty much recovered by then. How long did you take off from work and what kind of work do you do?

Hi Ashley,
I took 3 months off from work... I work in a office job, thought that 2 months would have been sufficient but, still had quite a bit of swelling by then, so decided to take the full 3 months and glad that I did. I was fortunate enough to have the "time" at work to do that since it was all paid time off. It is good that you are giving yourself plenty of time between your surgery and your wedding..(congratulations, btw on your wedding)!!
You will be good to go by then...
It really is a long recovery and one that can't be hurried, that is for sure.
