If so what meds do you take? Here is the story, About 2& 1/2 yr ago I had a seizure (from what my boyfriend descrides) I dont remember it. I only remember waking up confused wondering why I was on the ground. He caled 911 and they were there by the time we made it out of the woods back to mt house. We ride Mountain bikes and were just riding some trails. I would not let EMS take me to the ER. Cant afford that kind of dr. bills. I was on welbutrin at the time and I have read and been told that it can induce seizures. I was switched to effexor even though my family Dr. did not think I had a seizure nor was it caused by the welbutrin since i had been on it for over a year then. He thinks i fainted or something. However from every thing by boyfriend describes it sounds just like a seizure. I workin health care and Ive seen many seizures, even faked ones! Later my Pdoc put me back on Welbutrin. On Sat this happpend again. It was a little different this time. I was sitting on the tail gait of his truck talking to him and I started feeling really weird. Hot, sweaty, cold, & just strange. I told him then I fell out and landed in his truck bed. My Mom was there so they picked me up and I was partically alert, fuzzy kinda. He ask if I wanted to go inside & I told him yes, (Dont remember that part or any of is next to come.) He picked me up on one side to help support me and down I went. Said my eyes were rolled back into my head my body was stiff as a board, not shaking like last time, but my teeth were clinched. He was trying to open my mouth to put something in it so I wouldnt bite my tounge. He yelled at mon to call 911 and I heard him and hollard NO. Again worried about Dr. bills since I already have a broken colar bone. He help me up and I had to MAKE myself concentrate to walk to the house or I knew they would call 911. I kept telling myself concentrate, concentrate. After that Ive been fine. Ive tried almost all the antidepressants and welbutrin is the ONLY one that dont cause bad side effects. I really dont think it was the welbutrin or it would have happend before now considering Ive been on it again for about 2 yr. and I dont think you usually feel a seizure coming on do you? Sorry this is so long. Im just looking for Ideas or answers. This really scared My mom and boyfriend. Any hepl is appreciated.

I can't help a whole lot here, not being a health professional and not being epileptic myself. I do come from a family of epileptics though, and I can tell you, yes, you can tell you are about to have a seizure. My sister gets "signals" a few seconds before seizing. She says she feels suddenly very hot or cold, or experiences changes in light, sounds or smells. My nephew is the same.

Also, it could be the Wellbutrin, even if you have been on it for two years, but it hasn't happened until now, because it is probably not the Wellbutrin alone. There maybe another factor that has lowered your seizure threshold, such as caffeine consumption, a head injury, or an over-the-counter medication.

This must be brief, as I must leave on schedule...

I have never taken Wellbutrin. Depakote is renowned as an anti-seizure compound - so there is some reason to believe a relation between seizure "stuff" and anti-manic bi-polar meds...

The only person I ever knew who swore by it - ought to swear AT it, as he wound-up (allegedly) off in space greeting grizzlies in Alaska...

I had an experience with Bactrim (an anti-biotic) wherein I assumed that I was safe to continue with it... BUT our bodies can build reactions against ALL invaders (except that aweful thing in Aliens) ~ so in my case I got the pleasures of experiencing anaphylactic shock (not nearly as pleasurable as Electro-Convulsive ~ but there's that possibe seizure connection, again)...

The point of these digital ramblings... Isn't it just possible that your body is now countering the Wellbutrin well enough that you even have physical ramifications ??? Not informed, just incite... I mean insightful !!!
