i just noticed that after my bunion surgery that my second toe is longer than my big toe. Not a huge amount but enough for me to notice. I didn't know that was going to happen. I guess better than bunion.

anyone else?

A lot of people, myself included, have second toes that are longer than their big toe. It's more common than you might think.

Cinderella,

I my case it made a big difference. There was not much difference after my first surgery, but I noticed a considerable difference after the second surgery (about 1/2 inch). For me it caused lots of pain at the point of the second metatarsal head. I had suregery 3 weeks ago to put an external fixation device on the side of my foot. I have now increased the length of the metatarsal 7 mm. I'm going for 10mm. This is a cm or about 1/2 inch.

The second podiatrist said he had seen the shortened toe many times but never had a patient who had symtoms like mine. Hopefully, yours will be just fine.

I think faireswearshoes was having her second toe shortened to help the same problem. Hers just needed a couple of mm taken out.
