My brother is taking Concerta and I was wondering if it can damage the liver? His doctor said his liver enzymes were a little high, but that it isn't serious. I would like any information about concerta and it's side effects. By the way,he takes 18mg each morning. Thanks.

Hey,
I wouldn't sweat it if I were you. I take 36 mg. each morning and the only side effects I've noticed are like loss of appetite (which isn't REALLy a problem). Sometimes if I take it too late at night I have a hard time falling asleep. I haven't heard anything about long term affects, but with all the things that can kill you out there these days, I wouldn't worry about the concerta. If its the only thing thats going to keep your brother feeling calm and more confindent in himself, its totally worth it! Yet if the problems persist or get worst with his liver then I would definately try some other methods. Good luck!!

Thanks for replying. We have been worrying about it,but I think you are right. His dosage isn't that high so I think he will be ok. The upside to this medication is that is does help him like you said and he is more confident and does better in school. Thanks for the info. And good luck to you too :)
