View Full Version : Meds Allergy?

Hi there,
I have a strange problem. Two days ago I went to the doctor and had my blood pressure meds switched from Atenolol to Lisinop-HCTZ. Since that evening I have been having problems, feeling at first like my lips were maybe sunburned (I live in Florida)...but now I can see and feel bumps in my lips and my lips feel very swollen and itchy. This problem has gotten worse over the course of the past couple days. I know that swollen lips is a possible side effect of the new meds, but the bumps are something that are making me unsure. Is this an allergy, or what? http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif
Thanks!

I'd say it could be an allergy to the new meds. Call the doctors office and speak with them about it and see what they think. You wouldn't want to continue taking it if it is indeed the medication.

Thanks for the response... It turns out it is a reaction to the meds. I woke up this morning with REALLY swollen lips and called the doctor right away. The person who answered was VERY rude. Left blanks in the conversation, treated me like I had no reason to call, etc... http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/mad.gif I told her the problem,<HUGE pause> asked if the doc could prescribe something different, <another pause> and she then told me that the doctor is out til Monday, stop taking it and she will have someone call me back next Monday. I had to verify everything because she didn't even take my name/ph# til I asked he to. She came off as very rude, but I'm not in the mood to make a stink about it. I noticed she didn't give her name when she answered...I guess now I know why. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif Anyway, that's not the real issue here...thanks for the response http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif, Lindarella, it does appear it was the meds.
