I recently read about this study done by the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of California-Davis School of Medicine that found that a central vacuum system can signigicantly reduce allergy symptoms. According to the article, built-in central vacuum systems link a hose and attachments to a central power unit and collection canister in the home garage or basement, completely removing contacted dust, dirt and allergens are removed from the living area of the home. They also provide up to five times the cleaning power of a conventional vacuum, removing far more allergy-causing particles. Central vacuums can be installed in any home, new or existing starting at around $1,000. Has anyone installed this kind of vacuum into their house to help combat their allergies?
