Is it possible to come down with the flu or the common cold without running a fever? I have no respiritory symptoms other than the dreaded post-nasal drip every couple of days, but my face is slightly flushed and I'm a bit tired and have been for several days now...but no fever.

I rarely run a fever when I get the flu. I do think it's possible.

If you have the flu, you will have a fever. There are TONS of other viral infections other than the flu that can make you sick. You don't have the flu, you have some other infection.

USUALLY the flu is accompanied by a fever. I would say in 99% of the cases. In fact, I have only heard of the flu being detected in someone who was afebrile, and that person was on steroids, which masked the fever and therefore, the signs of the infection. I would check with a doc if you're not sure.

Hi, After I had my 3rd child, I became really sick. I was lying in bed and couldn't hardly take care of my kids. I called my mom telling her I thought I was dying, so of course she came over and took me to the hospital where I found out I had the flu. The doctor was suprised that I wasn't running a fever. But I did have the flu. So yes it is possible to have the flu with out running a fever. Luckily it was the first and only time I ever had the flu.
