I know its been talked about .. I figure alot of the women here that are pregnant or trying to become pregnant have other children and might be able to help me.

My daughter is 15 weeks old (3 months whatever) and isnt sleeping through the night .. I know they will do it when they are ready .. but how can I help her be ready? *grins*

I have tried keeping her up later .. she isnt a fan of this and simply falls asleep in the middle of whatever Im doing to keep her up .. playing ect ..

I tried rice cereal but it seems to constipate her ..

Any other ideas? Im SOOOO SLEEEEPPPPYY!!

 Hello! Have you tried rocking her in your arms or holding her close to you and singing her a song? My son slept alot so I did not have to go through that but now at 16 months old I had some troubles and I would give him a bottel of warmed milk and lay him next to me with his head in my arm our tummys and chest touching and he falls right back to sleep. Maybe she just needs some comforting and snuggeling anything is worth a try

We snuggle as often as possible .. pretty much constantly from the time I get home from work to the minute I put her down to bed .. Im sure that might be a problem later .. the rocking to sleep but its one of the best parts of my day so Im not willing to give that up!

Im just at a loss, I guess I just have to wait for her to decide its time for mom to get some sleep :( Thanks for your thoughts though!

I don't know if this will help, but my guy started sleeping through the night about 3 and a bit months. One thing I did notice though is that this also happened once he started eating his full 24 hour quota of formula during his waking hours.......did that make sense? So for example if he was eating ounces, he would do this between the hours of 6am and 11pm. Maybe there is some way of changing your little ones eating habits? My guy just did this himself. Oh and as a hint, he's now 7 months old, I make sure we feed him cereal in the evening about an hour before he goes to bed to help him sleep through the night. Oh I guess there's one more thing, the oat cereal didn't seem to constipate my guy as much as the rice cereal.

Oat cereal .. I'll have to pick some of that up today! I swaddled her while she was very little .. but I dont think Im very good at it and she broke free .. I read a book on how to do it .. but perhaps she is just a wiggly sleeper ..

We put her down in her crib the right way and in the morning she is diagnal in it .. dunno HOW she wiggles into that position ..

Anyway thanks for the ideas! I'll get some oat cereal and let you know how that works for us! OH should I put the baby fruit in it too or just plain? What do you think?

What truely seemed to work for all 3 of my kids: As I would play with them and try to keep the awake yet nothing worked I would resort to bathtime!!! Undressing them wakes them up - they weren't cranky because they all loved the bath - and the bath relaxed them so that it seemed it would allow them to sleep most of the night if not thru!! Hope this helps it did for me!!!

What about a warm bath and a warmer bottle at night? The bath will start to make them sleepy, swaddle them, and give them a nice "warmer" bottle.

I give my son that is 5 months old rice cereal bottles before bed and half a jar of applesauce. The applesauce keeps everything moving. But with my first son, we started him eating to many "table foods" too early and he has extreme allergies to food. Even corn and beef!. So we're not introducing foods as quickly with this one. The pediatric allergist said not to give to much too early. For what it's worth my 5 month has slept from 9pm to 7 or 8 the next morning for 2 months since we started the cereal. I love my sleep too!!!

wow, that's gotta be rough. Both my kids (now 6 and 4) never had a problem with sleeping till they were close to a year old. From day one they slept through the night. But as they got older they slept less, and I tried putting them to bed later, didn't work, especially with my daughter, I would put her to bed at 10 before I went to work, and by 6 am she was up and ready to go even if I wasn't :| LOL so as the other posters say, it's different for all kids, a warmer bottle may help and maybe different sleeping positions. When I laid my daughter down for naps I used to worry cuz the only way she would nap was on her belly and that worried me, but I got over that fast when I realized she was fine that way. I hope it works out for you, and a bit of advice....sleep when you can;) take care

Hello there. I am a toddler teacher in a day care and have tip that may work in helping your child sleep longer.

Most of my students parents use music to help their children sleep longer. I use music as well for naptime during the day time. It helps relax them, and keeps them from waking up due to noises such as doors opening and shutting and other sounds.

I can suggest, soft nature sounds, lullabyes, and soft classical music.

Hope this helps.

I am a new mom too, mine just turned 4 ,mon. I noticed whenever I give my baby a bath at night (7:30 p.m) she sleeps longer. as soon as she's dressed, she just wants to sleep and doesn't wake up till 5:30 or 6 a.m.
Also set a routine, ( i wrap her in her blanket, put her little piggy next to her and play the same music every night.)

Thank you all for your sugestions! I did start using the grain cereal ... she likes it much better than rice and I mix it with her formula ... we have a little routine now .. I get home from work and play for 1/2 an hour then fruit and cereal then bath then a tiny bottle, snuggle and **poof** out baby!

Its actually working pretty well .. I think she was just ready to sleep! She goes down around 7:00 and wakes up at around 3 - 4 am for a quick snack then back to bed till 6:30 - 7am .. Im pretty pleased all things considered! And yes the fruit does seem to help keep things moving (heheheh).

Anyway just wanted to let you all know .. Im finally getting some sleep and thanks for all your advice!
