Have had two bouts of lightheadedness in the past few months that is driving me crazy. Here are my symptoms: Each time it started with a sore throat for 1-2 days, then a runny nose, stiff neck, then the lightheadedness. I get small "bursts" of lightheadedness when I move about or try to focus on a moving object. Every morning around 8 to 11 I get a feeling of "spaciness" almost like I have had too much to drink. For the rest of the day, just minor lightheadedness. I have no problems when I am sitting or laying down. I am thinking it has to do with my sinuses (although I can now breath clearly), because eating hot sauce and blowing my nose seems to temporarily help. It should be noted that I have slight high blood pressure and am on a beta-blocker, but my first dizziness spell was before I ever went on that medication. There is no correlation between my dizziness and blood pressure levels. I had a brain MRI, CBC, and kidney ultrasound done after my first bout with this, all were normal. Clues that lead me to beleive that this may also be allergy related is that my eyes have been red and buring lately, with heavy bags under my eyes. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
It's definitely allergies. I would go get allergy tested. I went through all the tests including MRI, CAT, blood, etc and it turned out I was allergic to perfumes. Good luck on your search. Lightheadedness was one of my first symptoms and plagues me still. My eyes get dark and I get fatigued and major woozies. Good luck and please return to this board if you find anything that helps.

I have sinusitis and have the lightheadedness very frequently. My internist has tried Meclizine and Phenergen, two drugs that help curb symtpoms of motion sickness. My ENT said these won't help because my dizzies are caused from the lining of my sinuses being so thick that I have different air pressure in my head than outside my head. It's much worse when the weather is contantly in flux. It sounds crazy, but I have been tested for everything else. I also get horrible migraines with this sinusitis. Nothing has really helped, but I am now getting steroids injected into my sinuses, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
There are so many things that can cause lightheadedness, and we are all different. I think you are doing the right thing by getting tested, at least to rule out anything else.
Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon!

Here is an update. I have allerghy tests schedules for this weekend. What would cause me to have the "high" or "buzzed" feeling at the same time every morning? It feels like a huge caffeine high. Also, why would hot peppers or alcohol get rid of my dizzies?

Not sure about the Hot peppers, but Alcohol definitely improved my dizzes. What really helped though was Chorotrimeton. I have been on this med for 4 years now and feel almost normal.
Alcohol and the Chlorotrimeton both make you sleepy and both releive my symptoms. That's how they are related. The newer allergy meds that do not make you sleepy - Give me no relief.

The alcohol is what makes me think that perhaps this is anxiety related. Although both times it started with a sore throat and congestion. I tried the chlortrimeton and it made me sick to my stomach.
