I have always had a problem studying/concentrating, but it was never really a problem until I got to college.
Now I am at Baylor university and I cannot study for the life of me. I want to study, I am even motivated to study, but if and when i actually do start studying, I get very very tired or distracted.
I am not hyperactive, which i hear is one of the symptoms of ADD. I cannot focus on anything for more than a few minutes, though.
When i drink a lot of caffine, I can study better. However, when I take a test, I can hardly ever remember any of the information.
I just wanted you to know the difference between the two abbreviations.

If this is just something recent that has come up, why not see your regular doctor and have them check for other things such as thyroid or anemia.
Just a suggestion.

Any comments would be appreciated.
The symptoms could be caused by many things. You say you have always had trouble concentrating but its gotten worse? Symptoms must have been present before age 7.
I think that you should go get blood tests, urine tests, and a sleep study to start, along with a full physical.
After that if you get a clean bill of health you may want to talk to a psychiatrist.
In the mean time some things you can do are make sure you walk or run for at least one hour every day!!! This is VERY important. It sounds like its not a big deal but believe me it is. If you do have ADD there are many nutritional treatments that can help. L-Tyrosine is cheap and effective for quite a few with problems such as depression, ADD, fatigue and more.

Your mention of caffeine helping you to concentrate better and then nforgetting everything by the time you write the test reminded me of something I wanted to share with you.
It has been proven that you best remember stuff while in the same state you learned it in. For example, if you are caffeinated while learning the info, try being caffeinated while taking the test also. ;)

Yes, excercise helps EVERYONE to be healthier. It is expecially helpful for people with ADHD and depression. In this day and age most people don't get enough exercise, this can lead to mood problems and problems with activity level (too much or too little energy)
Exercise can improve mood, activity level, and even focus.

I agree, my ped said to have my daughter involved in as many physical activities as we can fit in, since it w/b also be a way to expend that extra energy. She does swim and soccer right now.
