Hi there, I was just diagnosed with IBS over the past week, and I am curious as to what i'm probably going to go through for a loooonnnnnnggggggggggggggggg lonnnnnnnnnggggggggggg time :( anyways, I was worried it was colon cancer, cause it runs in the family guess im the only one who has IBS, darn it :(

Don't sweat it. Doctors diagnose IBS to any person who complains of the stomach where it shows there is nothing serious. IBS comes and goes so dont even think you will be stuck with IBS forever specially since you are so young. Just keep a good diet, back off fats and spicy and give it time. It will go alone. i agree w/ you on that about how easy it is for a doctor to diagnose a patient w/ ibs...... ibs is a very general term that doctors will diagnose a patient w/ if there doesn't seem to be any further reasons to be concerned.. ex. bleeding...
its something that you can definitely beat.... so don't think its gonna last forever.. i think everyone here knows that there is a chance it will go away.... just do the right things... look up ways you can eat better for this condition.... and relax....
