View Full Version : SO frustrated about doctors

I went to get looked at once again today, which makes this the 4th doctor/clinic I have been to in the past 6 months. In any case, today's visit was the most ridiculous doctor's visit I've ever had. In the first place, the woman who came in to examine me could barely speak English (and no, I'm not discriminating, I would just prefer to understand what a doctor is telling me). Anyway, she did like a 2 second visual exam and said that my marks did not appear to be an STD and to go back to my dermatologist.... thanks. I mean, sure, that's what I wanted to hear, but if I'm there, hell, I want whoever to examine every square inch of me, with a magnifying glass, without, etc.

After that, I asked her about blood testing. She said I could get blood work done for HIV and syphillis if I wanted to. When I asked her about Herpes and bacterial diseases, which is what I am most concerned about, she looked at me with a puzzled look. The doctor had to actually leave the room so she could check if they could test me for it... when she returned she said they could only do an IGG, not an IGM test. I swear to god I think I knew (and know) more off this message board and by doing research than she did about the topic. So I got an HIV, syphillis, and IGG Herpes test done... when finished, I (of course) asked about results. Again, "I'm not sure".... are you kidding me?????? Finally, the lab lady told me that if something is wrong, we'll call you... great, I don't even want my phone to ring for the next week.

In any case, I am just so frustrated with doctors. Can anyone relate. Should I go somewhere else to get a more thorough Herpes test?

It looks like you might have visited a "doc in the box" clinic. No pun intended.
In this part of the country, the doctors who work in these clinics work for a salary., because they can't make it on their own.

These clinics are funded by local hospitals and the object of the game is for the doctor to refer you to a specialist, who is eager to perform surgery on you at the same hospital.

Ask your friends for a good doctor and forget about going to clinics.
