Well, I'm not sure if this is something else someone has felt...but I cannot go to the clinic to get screened for a month, so I'm freaking out right now...and I suspect it might be Genital Herpes.
Anyway, for the past 5 days I have had a slight burn on the inside of my upper LEFT leg....it covers just about a 2 inch by 2 inch area. It basically feels "hot" and then when clothing rubs against it it feels a little itchy. When I put a cold compress in it it definitely feels better. I have looked at my skin in this area as closely as possible and it looks completely normal on the outside, no redness, swelling, cracks, bumps...nothing. Additionally, I feel this on just one leg.
Does this sound like it could be Genital Herpes? Has anyone else ever had this sort of sympton? The last time I had unprotected sex was about 6 months ago.
Please help...I'm prepared for the worst. Just not being able to go to the clinic for a month is killing me (its all booked up).

I feel something like this. What happens is that there is a burning or icy feeling in the back of my left thigh. It stays for a few seconds and then goes away by itself. No itch, no pain. Sometimes I feel it moving down towards my feet and othertimes I feel it close to my genital area. I am more than sure that its the genital herpes virus cuz I never felt this before I got infected totally out of innocence. I wish if she had the decency of informing me that she had herpes, in response to care and love I extended to her.

Thanks for the reply.
Well, mine seem to be there constantly, and the pain never shifts, its just in one area. What I did notice is that some of the hair follicles in the area of the burning look "infected"...there are several slightly raised red bumps each with a hair coming out of the middle.
Does this sound like one of the symptons of Herpes? Should there be hairs coming out of the red bumps??

Not in my experience.

Does herpes have hair coming out of the red spot or bump?

I was not clear, sorry--I have never heard of hair coming out of a herpes sore.

i am a female and i just signed on to the boards to post a question about itching and bumps and redness i have been having and it sounds like what you have too.
for the past couple months i have experienced some bumps like ingrown hairs in the area where my pubic region touches my thigh (i call it the underwear line that rides between the crotch and the leg). i have checked myself out and i havent noticed anything on my vagina. just this rash that is like shaving bumps in that area. they dry out and get peely. i have not noticed any blistering or sores.
i first noticed this in august so i went to the doctor and she did an std panel and noted i had vaginitis but it was only after i got my results back from the std panel that i realized im not even sure that panel includes a herpes test. i even specifically mentioned my concern about herpes. the infection went away but then about a month later came back. i went to my family doctor this time and he examined the bumpiness on my thigh-meets-crotch area and said it didnt look like herpes.
so another month has passed and i am breaking out again. i itch on my leg, pelvis, butt and thighs. i have convinced myself i have herpes because i have no idea what this is and it keeps recurring. still, i dont have any itching or bumps on my labia or vagina... just the area between the leg and crotch and the side of my leg. my arms itch too. so part of me thinks it's not herpes. but the fact that it "flares up" on an every couple of weeks basis concerns me.
so tomorrow i am going back to the family doctor and wednesday to the gyno to make sure they test specifically for herpes. my problem is if i have it... who knows who gave it to me and by the time i tell everyone i have had sex with... if someone else has it who knows if i gave it to them or they gave it to me. i have had protected sex with all my partners except anyone i have been in a monogamous relationship with (one person this year).
i have read so many weird stories about people getting tested over and over because they were convinced they had it but the results come up negative and then one day - boom - positive.
i just wondered if anyone with herpes has experienced these symptoms too. i am not sure if these are typical herpes symptoms or if i am just on the cusp of having a full blown outbreak or maybe i just have some other infection/sensitivity.
bah!

Hi,
That sounds like what I get, soundsleep.
Right around the underwear line it will feel like I have razor burn or something like that. I went and got a blood test for herpes and thats how I was diagnosed. My doctor did a culture and that came back negative, but the blood test was positive. So I finally knew. But, I hadn't felt that weird feeling in over a month and then once I started taking Olive leaf Extract, there it was again.
So I suppose my virus is reacting to the strong supplement, so I'll keep it up for now.
If I were you, I'd ask the doctor to give me a blood test in order to find out. Thats the only way you'll be sure.
The Herpes Select Test is good because it tells you which type you have I or II
Also, you don't know for sure, it could be vaginitis. I get that too sometimes and might be confusing those symptoms with herpes symptoms.
The only way to know is to get tested I suppose.
Good Luck!

Hi Helpmyself.....I am not a doctor but I would like to suggest something that worked for me. I noticed that taking Olive Leaf Extract had some type of reaction on the virus...made me tingle and such but no outbreak. Well basically I just increased my dosage and just like that within minutes it vanished....since I have been taking the increased dosage...I haven't noticed anything.....perhaps you can take one more capsule if that is indeed the form you are using.
PS when purchasing my herbal vitamins recently I was informed by the health store that the govt is in the process of passing some type of law that will require all herbal supplements to be reviewed by the FDA then approved or denied..so alot of the items that we are all experimenting with may soon be no longer available. The FDA will use their own guidelines and criteria for evaluating the herbal supplements and the decision will be made at their discretion....how much you wanna bet alot of OLE, OOO and Lysine will get yanked off the shelves............

Hey notsobad,
Thanks for the tip, I popped another in my mouth just as you said that. I also heard that by applying ice to the area where you get outbreaks, can help prevent them from surfacing. Well, I just put an ice cube down there and literally thought the virus was on the other side of my skin just screaming at the coldness. It was intense!
I think I'll keep that up along with the OLE for now.
As for the FDA!
I was on a website that I frequent to get support and information for natural supplements and ect. Well, now there is this sign when you go to the address that says that this website is now being carefully watched and that soon, only medical doctors will be allowed to give medical advice. Meaning that everything we say and do on this board about ideas about medicine and protocol, is going to be illegal since we are not medical doctors!
I'll find the article and paste it on a new post.
I think I'm going to have to start ordering all my pills in Bulk, fast!
The government is really getting scared that its citizens are getting smart!

So you never had any sort of bumps/blisters at all? All you had was what felt like razor-burn...as itchiness/burning/uncomfortable along the underwear line and no other symptons??

I never had any blisters or raised skin or anything like that. What I did feel was a constant tingling feeling, and there was one part on me that felt like someone was lightly pinching my labia.
Weird.
But since that initial outbreak...all that I will get is the same tingling feeling from time to time, and then the razor burn like feelings.
But, I do remember that when I was going through my initial outbreak, at night time my entire body would get tingly, especially below the belt, and I would get very hot all of a sudden.
And now that I'm doing OLE, I feel like that is once again happening to me. Probably the healing effect.
I'm uping my dosage because of it.

Veryworriedguy,
BTW,
I just reread your initial post, and I remembered...I did have both redness and swelling during my primary.
Hope that helps.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I guess what I am basically trying to ask is if I could be experiencing my first Herpes outbreak?? The last time I had sex was 6 months ago...and I had been fine ever since then...up until about 8 days ago when the skin on my left thigh seemed to "burn" and feel "hot" constantly in different areas (front, towards groin, and on the back)...also the skin was a little sensitive. I had no other symptons, no tingling, itchiness, redness, swelling, bumps, headaches, muscle pain, fever...nothing, and I checked my genital area up and down and nothing out of the ordinary has popped up.
Anyway, it seems to have passed now and my thigh feels fine again. Basically, all I want to know is if it is likely that this was my first outbreak of Herpes...cause everywhere I've read, the first outbreak usually includes some sort of bumps, redness, cuts...etc.? Is it likely this was a Herpes outbreak??? How does it compare to your first "real" outbreak???
Sorry to be a pain, but I still have to wait a few more weeks to get tested, so I'm trying to figure all this out.

HI-
I'm not a guy but it doesn't sound like herpes to me, and if it were I would think it would be on your genital area and not your leg. I get cold sores on my mouth which I have been told is herpes simplex II (i.e. not the sexual kind- but the same type of virus) and when I get one, it tingles for a day and then the sore appears. Herpes sores are essentially bubbles on the skin that break open and the stuff inside is what is highly contagious. If you are feeling somthing weird, and it hasn't surfaced within a day or 2, then I don't think it sounds like herpes. Why can't you go to the doctor for a month??? If you have an urgent issue, they should see you sooner than that. Did you explain that you think you may have herpes? you shouldn't be agonizing over this for a month. can you go anywhere else? Oh, and by the way not to lecture you at all, but be careful unprotected. you could end up with worse than herpes. hope this helps and don't worry.
