Hi All,

I have a 6 year old that spent this last weekend on his back with strep. He's had strep more times than I can count, as well as every other childhood ick that could be caught due to the unfortunate catching of RSV when he was six month old. But what I was told to look at on Monday at the Dr. office floored me.

He had an ulcer (hole) in the lining of his "cheek" (where the cheek meets the tonsils) the size of a pencil eraser, and as deep. I asked the dr where this would come from and all he could offer was "he probably has a virus on top of the strep". A fleshing eating virus? Please...I know it's out there, but please. He was given the usual rx of amoxycillin and sent on his way and is healing well.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm just curious...my only thought was that it was a very deep blister from the strep??? Just wondered if anyone else has seen this or had a kiddo that has had this...and what they were told it was.

Thanks!

hi! Does he have a rash anywhere? I know that you can get mouth ulcers from Hand foot and mouth disease.

This poor kid...I stated that he was on Antibiotics and doing well, the next day he did get a rash, but it was due to a reaction to Keflex, so we went BACK to the dr and got Zithromax and Benadryl...it's been a 2 week ordeal, but he went back to school today and is doing well, the ulcer isn't completely healed, but I'm hoping. Keep your fingers crossed.

P.S. He did have foot and mouth disease when he was much smaller...if it's out there, this kiddo has had it!
