I know a young girl who has ADD and is taking Anderall along with Effexor. This girl is a walking zombie. She sleeps all day! When she's not sleeping, she sits there staring at the ground. She mixes booze with these meds too. Why would someone be like that? Her complexion is terrible and she looks like a druggie.

Is it me? Oh wait, I'm on Concerta, not Adderall, & I don't drink. Have medical problems been ruled out? I was a walking zombie for a few years before my docs figured out I had sleep apnea. Now I sleep with Darth Vader gear, but some days I'm still zombified.
Actually, Effexor can do that too...and alcohol probably intensifies the effect. I take Effexor at night in order to function during the day.

Maybe she doesn't really have ADD, could be depression, or one of hundreds of other things. She surely sounds depressed to me. She needs to get herself cleaned up. Does she realize that she has a problem with alcohol?

I think she is in some sort of detox program. This girl is so screwed up and is only 21 years old. She's got a loser boyfriend who just gave her chlamydia. If you would have seen her three years ago...she was thin and beautiful. Now she's overweight and has a bad complexion. With the bad complexion, by husband swears she is doing cocaine. The second time I was over at her house I knew she had problems. Everytime I'd be over there in the afternoon she was sleeping or passed out.

As far as her complextion goes, it doesn't need be cocaine. Those sores can be caused by speed, which Adderall is basically. They even list it under allergic side effects in the drug info for Adderall...it's called "Urticaria", described as:
<dermatology> A transient condition of the skin, usually caused by an allergic reaction, characterised by pale or reddened irregular, elevated patches and severe itching, hives.
Poor girl probably drinks to calm down her system from all the stimulants; Adderall the obvious stimulant and the not so obvious Effexor. SSRi's stimulate serotonin, which is defined as an excitatory neurotransmitter. Her sleep is probably so bad that when the stimulants wear off or she drinks, she crashes.

This is a terrible story - if your her friend take her to see another doctor - she is mixing too many meds and the drinking can't help.
