Hello.. Ever since the beginning of August I have been thinking I might have herpes... The odds are in favour I don't have it. But still bugs me!

The next day after unprotected oral sex, I felt discomfort the very next morning. Doctor says it shouldn't appear that quickly.. But I had no physical symptoms.. Just a "feeling". Anyways about 1-2 weeks later varied spots appear... no raised bumps, lesions or scabs. They seems similar to ingrown spots. They spots later started to dissipate at a very slow rate.. I still today have faint marks of the spots that appeared.. My skin doesn't heal well either. I went to see the doctor for these initial spots and they both said they were not herpes. They gave me some cortizone creams, but they did nothing. Some said cortizone cream will react with Herpes.. That did not happen. I have had this discomfort feeling the whole way through though.. sometimes worse, sometimes less.. It feels like my testicle hairs are sharp and are pricking me as I walk... i only feel this as I move. If I stay in a position I don't feel it anymore. anyways I didn't have any spots for awhile until recently. I had a few show up. just spots not raised bumps. They appeared to be bright red amost pink. very small.. The next day they got bigger, not raised tho, just like red marks. and after that they went away. no borken skin, lesion or scabs. I have had this three times and all three times they would dissappear within 3 or 4 days. This last one has disappeared in three days. Ive been to the doctors numerous times and he said it cannot be herpes. By the way the spots are only on my pubic hair area and not on my penis.. never. And I get some spots on my lower thighs. I dont know what to think.

Any suggestions on what this could be? Im really scared because i want to continue a relationship, but scared to infect my partner.

I think the reason no one has replied is that no one has any similar experience. I could say that it doesn't sound like herpes (and it doesn't,) but you are not me, and so your symptoms may be different...and I wouldn't want to mislead you. Sorry you are having a hard time. You could try to get a dr or clinic to do a culture when the spots are present.

How can you do a culture if there are no breaks in the skin?? if their just spots?

If it's herpes, the virus will be present on the skin...that's how you pass it to another person, even when you don't have a sore! So you could culture it (my only culture, long ago, they just rubbed the site real hard with a q-tip.) But I'll bet if you go to a dermatologist, he/she would come up with another explanation for these spots.

These could be cysts or simple pimples. Do you regularly examine yourself, or have you only started doing so since worrying you have herpes? Because it may be normal for you - could be sweat blocking a sebaceous gland... could well be ingrown hairs if it is in the pubic hair region.

Backpacker is right - get a swab done next time you have anything like this and then you'll get a much better idea of what's up.

I went to the doctor YET AGAIN today.. for about the 12th time... yet again same response.. its not herpes... he said what the walk in clinic doctor said.. probably hair follice inflammation or folliciotis. (sp?) he game me some fucidin cream to try which should stop the infected areas... i havent tried it yet, but what worries me is the little tiny dots that are red that i just got - have had before and disappeared within three - four days of appearing.. herpes lasts longer right? well the spots dont seem to be on the hair.. like right beside it.. so can it be inflammed for infected if the *** isnt on a hair?? confused and feel like im misdiagnosed.... he said the swab wont catch anything if there isnt any lesions or open breaks... i have never had an open break before either

Get a blood test, its called herpes select...its probably not available at the free-clinic, but you can arrange for a test online or your doctor may have it. Its very accurate and it will tell you once and for all.

My family doctor doesn't do blood tests because they only test for HSV1, which commonly most people have? where can I go?

The test is for both I and II...if your doctor won't do it order it from healthcheckusa.com...it's about $80....it's worth it and you get the results in less than a week...yo ucan ask them to post your results online.
