KJdancer 04-07-2003, 08:37 AM just curious if anyone has heard of a connection between ragweed and bananas? this was recently mentioned to me.. that if you're allergic to ragweed you shouldn't eat a banana. is this true? momma2boys 04-07-2003, 09:47 AM I dont Know if theres a connection but I myself am very allergic to both. squeeky 04-07-2003, 11:16 AM If you are allegic to ragweed, you may have cross reactions with food that have simular protein or chemical composition. For ragweeds, the foods are; apples, bananas, cantaloupe, chamomille, tea, honey, honeydews, nuts, sunflower, seeds and watermelon. So you better be careful before you eat any of these. They may cause you trouble throughout the whole year and not only during the "famous' allergie seasons. ora952 05-10-2003, 08:05 PM Latex connection ? bananas, & ragweed are also closely related to foods that cause a cross reactive reaction similar to latex. Latex is (nrl) derived from a plant, hevea. The rubber tree. Be aware that if you react to banana, kiwi, avacado, or chestnuts you may have an allergy to latex, (nrl). Do balloons, condoms, bandaids cause irritation? There is a lot info on the web about latex allergy. Ora Audrey-B 05-12-2003, 08:03 AM Now that you mention Latex, it actually reminds me of rather "uncomfortable" times after sex with some symptoms being similar to thrush like symptoms, but it's not thrush. Hmmm i must investigate this further....Bananas and then possibly Latex http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/mad.gif |
