Hi, I was reading over the "3 day diet posts" here, and there were quite an enormous amount!!

I have read what it's all about, and I am really curious and anxious to try it! My question to those who have done this plan are:

1. Can we use Green Tea?

2. If you are allergic to tuna, can you switch it to Turkey? or Chicken?

3. Substitute for cantaloupe and beets?

Any feedback would be really great! Thank you for your time and good luck to all of you :)

I am quoting below some things I read on the internet about this 3-day diet.

"This is a calorie diet, as long as you eat the same amount of calories in any type of food you will lose weight fast. You can switch the diet food around any way you wish or replace the foods you see for another with the same caloric value."

I looked up the caloric value of the foods that they list, as well as the Weight Watchers points of the foods allowed and came up with the following totals:

1st day: 1,213 calories - 24 points
2nd day: 1,002 calories - 20 points
3rd day: 930 calories - 18 points

I hope this helps answer your questions. My problem was I just couldn't stand eating plain tuna with nothing in it, even tho I tried just adding a little mustard. Also, I just don't like carrots well enough to eat all that are listed. I substituted the tuna with any other meat and the carrots with any other vegetable. I would not hesitate to substitute any of the rest of the foods listed. I lost a total of 6 lbs. for the three days.

I didn't do as good the second week but I think I probably ate too much during the four days off period. If I try it again I think I will try to do Weight Watchers points during those four days. At least you can add variety during those days.

Good luck. I believe this is a healthful way to go since it includes all the food groups.

Excuse me, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the green tea you asked about. Green tea was not mentioned on the material I read, but they list as a breakfast item all three days "coffee or tea with Sweet and Low or Equal, or water."

Also, the article said you can add herbs, salt, pepper, lemon, vinegar, Worchestershire, soy sauce, mustard and ketchup to your foods. Drink 4 glasses of water or diet soda or any diet drink without sugar or use only diet sweetener.

By the way, I like your password.

Thanks Travel for the heads up. The way you've broken it down, makes a lot more sense on how this may work. There seems to be a few variations of this diet, but nothing too drastic. (i.e. beats vs carrots in day 1-dinner) Well, the first day is over. I'll see only at the end if this really worked for me.

====================================
Here's what I had for Day 1:

breakfast
1 cup green tea (warm)
1 whole wheat toast spread w/ 1 tbsp. Peanut Butter
1/2 grapefruit

lunch

1 cup green tea (warm)
1 whole wheat toast
4 slices of fresh chicken lunch meat (the good kind) with some mustard. [5 slices were equivalent to 2.5 oz of a can of tuna, since approx. 5 oz = 1 cup and yes, it took me a while to find these conversions especially since everything here is in european conversions]

dinner

1 cup green tear (warm)
1/2 cup beets :(
1/2 cup boiled green string beans (tossed on some salt and vinegar)
5 slices of the same fresh chicken lunch meat, again w/ some mustard.
1 green apple
skipped out on the ice cream.

Dinner doesn't seem too bad when you mix everything together and separately eat the beets and apple.

* Worked out after a two hours before dinner. (30 mins bike cardio ~8.6miles and ~7 mins on the ab roller in the various positions @ 50 count changeups)
* In between and throughout the day, I had about 80oz water.
======================================== ===

It's wasn't so bad... although I'd rather eat many other things instead :) Since I actually eat "3" times that day as compared to the usual "all at once" late meal, I was doing ok.

Day 2 hopefully will be better... looking forward to dinner tomorrow :)

By the way, I like your password.

Hmmm.... I'm hoping you're talking about how your handle rearranged, partially completes my name.

Sounds to me like you are doing it all just right. I wonder why you skipped the ice cream, however. That was my favorite meal. In fact, I saved it and ate it as an evening snack. It didn't seem to hurt anything.

I stand amazed at how you are exercising!!! That is really great. You will just have to lose weight, you are trying so hard and doing all the right things.

Yes, I was referring to how our password names are similiar. You know what they say about "great minds"...hee hee.

Good luck to you.

i just have a question about the beets - do you guys buy the canned red beets or fresh beets? that's the one part of the diet i never understood..whether it was fresh or canned beets.

I believe you can use either. I always use the canned beets, however, it is easier than cooking fresh ones, and the fresh ones are not always available.
