I was wondering if the blood screening before having a hysterrectomy could detect HIV? Would they know if something was wrong before surgery?

Would they know if something was wrong before surgery? that is a good question, but the answer is no. unless you specifically request a HIV test because of the HIPPA act one will NOT automatically be done. they will do a CBC=complete blood count. if those numbers are off they may ask to do further testing but HIV markers themselves do not show up in a CBC. if you are worried, have them draw that blood at the same time. i got tested after a year and a half, a husband and a baby later because i found out one of my ex's was not very faithful. it is negative, so now i can breathe easier. have the test done now, life is too short to worry over nothing! good luck to you. |
