Hi everyone...Just an update for you...I finally went back to work since my surgery...9/9/03...I must say...the pain is still there...not as bad though...I'm thinking its because I'm favoring that foot and really using the other leg more that that is what is really hurting me. I had to go and buy a new pair of shoes that are too big...foot is still swollen and won't fit into reg. shoes...I might have to wear one of my other shoes on the normal foot just to be comfy  Has anyone else found they favor their foot and use the other leg more? How do I learn how to walk on it normal...the toe doesn't bend yet... :bouncing: Thanks

Hi Doe,
I would say that you are suppose to be exactly where are you are at his stage of the recovery. I had my bunion surgery on 7/23..and it has really been in the past 2 weeks that I am walking "normal" and was just able within the past two weeks wear shoes other than the NEw Balance shoes. So, it will get better and stronger as you go along..at 4 months you will really feel significantly better and find that you are not always thinking and aware of your foot!!...and that is such a relief.

Doe,

I feel exactly like you do right now. My surgery was 10/3/03, I'm returning to work this Monday. I'm in an oversized sneaker on my right foot and my regular size on my left, and I seem to have forgotten how to walk on my right foot. I still tend to walk on my heel like in the walking boot and I am definitely putting the weight on the left foot. My doctor says it will all come back in time. I'm going to start physical therapy after Thanksgiving to help with the stiffness of the big toe--is that an option for you or did you already go?

Hey there scoozel...my Dr. didn't send me to PT because he said what they do he's already got me doing...I know what you mean about how your walking...BUT...yesterday I got my foot into my normal shoe...comfortably...and I found myself walking normal with no pain. Everyone noticed a difference in my walk compared to how I walked Thur...was in pain. It's coming back though...I'm happy again :p I am also noticing that my big toe is really starting to bend more the more I walk normal. :bouncing: Good Luck to you:wave:
