I am wondering how far into the progression of HIV is someone usually before KS lesions will become an issue?

I have Several marks on my face, which I cannot explain. I have not been diagnosed as positive, nor have I had these marks examined. My last partner was someone with whom I had low risk/protected sex. I am wondering if KS becomes a problem with ARS, or does it not become a problem until further into the progression of the virus? I am a healthy male, with no history of immune disorder, and no other underlying health problems.

If anyone has information on this, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.

KS can appear anytime in an HIV infection, however it is NOT an ARS symptom, nor does it occur early on. It is common for KS to appear when there is a HIGH viral load.

Another thing to consider, is that you can have KS without having HIV. Although it is not as common, it is possible. It can be transmitted from deep kissing, as it is of the same family strain of viruses Herpes is.

You should have the marks examined, as there could be other explanations. KS is more commonly found on the lower extremites.

If you think you are at risk, be tested.
