the Pamelor? I am taking 50 mg at night. The first morning I woke up with a hung-over feeling, but the slight headache went away before noon. Then the next day and today, I have been headache-free. This is usually the worst week for me in the month and I haven't had a trace.
I'm wondering if this Pamelor is really working? I know one thing. It really makes me sleep heavy at night. I feel a little sleepy during the day also. I don't know if I want to stay on this long-term, but I'm enjoying not having a headache for now. Has anyone had success like this with Pamelor?
Everything I read about it says that it causes weight gain. I'm not sure if it's because it makes you more hungry and you eat more or if it actually slows down your metabolism. Anyone know?
Anyhow, just wanted to let you know that Pamelor just might be the answer for me, at least for now.

I took pamelor for about 5 years and gained 50 pounds. It did work to keep the migraines away but, I craved sweets  and I am not one for sweet stuff or desserts. I think it makes you want more food not slows down your metabolism. I went off pamelor and on serzone and lost 40 of the 50 pounds but am still struggling with the last 10. Now the dr won't let me take the serzone along with lipitor (high cholesterol drug) since both are hard on the liver. Have not been on any daily meds for about 6 months and am now looking for new dr.
I agree that Michigan has been a b**ch this year--are you a yooper or a troll? :)

Serzone, eh? I'll have to look that one up. Did it keep the headaches away as well as the Pamelor? I can't believe I wake up each morning (tired as ever!) but headache-free. It is such an abnormal feeling for me! I can deal with cravings - I am very careful about what I eat - I was afraid that it lowered my metabolism and then there would be nothing I could do to keep the weight off.
Does the serzone have the same kinds of side effects as Pamelor (tired, drowsy, dry mouth, etc.)?
Yep, I live in Chelsea. Do you know where that is? The weather this year was making me nuts. Hot, cold, hot, cold. My head was CONSTANTLY hurting. I was waking up in the middle of the night and couldn't go back to sleep because of the throbbing in my head!

Serzone has the same effects, dry mouth etc. but it didn't leave me quite so tired. Pamelor is nortriptyline and Serzone is nefazodone, both act on seritonin and norepinephrine, but are different chemically in their composition. The serzone works fine for me in stopping migraines. Maybe even better than the pamelor did. Another good thing for me was that the serzone didn't seem to have the same negative affect on my nite life :D . Know what I mean ;) Matter of fact I am going to try to get new dr. to put me back on it. I will promise liver means every 12 weeks to be sure it doesn't cause problems.
Yes I know where Chelsea is, I'm farther up, on Lake Michigan, but not comfortable with giving out location on public board :( , sorry. Weather on Sunday-Monday about did me in-going from 60 to 20 degrees in 24 hours was really hard on my head. Today is better but still feel a bit off. Tired, cranky and like I am mentally slow, course that could be hormonal too. Do not know if there is any way to give out emails without posting for the whole world to see but if there was maybe we could do that.
Until later-R
