I went and gave blood today for the first time ever. I can't do anything but sit like a vegetable waiting to hear something, or not hear something. I am a male. I have had unprotected sex with 6 women, the majority i have known for years, one or two were one night stands. If i come out of this ok, i am a new man, and i am just not saying this. I can't believe i have been so irresponsible. I am so terrified, i have never felt this scared before. I have a 5 year old daughter and was just thinking the other day how selfish it was of me to have had unprotected sex like this. I vow before god to permanently change my sexuall behavior. I just hope i come out ok. There is also this female i have been seeing for 2 years. She told me that people have rumored that she has HIV. She told me this after our encounter. My friends say they have been saying that about her since 1995. She says she has never been diagnosed with HIV, but people have said that about her. She is a divorced school teacher with 2 kids, i came right out and asked her, she said no.

Have you been tested for other STD's? You should definately be tested for the full gambit....herpes, trich, clamydia, gonnorhea, etc.!? The chances of you contracting on of these other STD's is much more likely than HIV...they are more easily transmitted, and it is possible to have them for years before any symptoms actually show. I hope your test(s) come back okay. Keep us posted. :)

This feeling of waiting is not worth it. I can't even function regularly.

Maybe this is a bad time to mention it, but you may have wanted a real test at a Drs clinic, or you could use Home Access at home. Simply because their is nothing quite as nice as atually being TOLD you are negative, intstead of waiting for somone to possibly call or send a letter after some time to let you know something is wrong. And even then, they may not tell you it is HIV. There are other things they will notify you for.
If your fearful, go the extra step and get a one on one HIV test. I assure you it will help.

it's not a chicken way out, it's just not really a way out. the fact is they will send you a note saying they found some irregularites and to see your doctor for further testing. but that could mean anything, high white blood cells, anemia, mono exposure, bacterial infection, not just hiv. you have to go and get tested specifically for hiv to know if you are negative. i had 11 unprotected encounters over 12 years, (all serious boyfriends) and now i have a baby and husband so i had to know. you can do it, you will always wonder, and the truth shall set you free. i know it isn't what you wanted to hear, it sucks, believe me i know.
