Saw The Podiatrist today and he cut out my Seed Callus (5 of them) but he says the only way to keep them from coming back is Laser surgery to get rid of the actual seeds. Which he wants me to scheduale. My ingrown toenail will taken care of at the same time. He said I can be awake with local antistec but it must be done at a Surgical Center, not the office.
Has anyone done this? I don't know anyone who has had laser surgery for anything so I'd appreciate all input.
He wrote the Laser Surgery for the Seed callus on the insurance paper as Laser Multiple Porokeratosis.

Hi Snow,
I never heard of this procedure and I have to question it. A callous is a defense the body uses that develops when there is continuous abrasion against part of the skin. Often there is a protruding piece of bone responsible for this as well. I don't think the laser surgery is going to help you if the reason for the callous is still there.
I had some callouses which were cut out about 5 years ago. I was then given special orthotics to wear that were molded so there was a recess in the areas where the callouses built up. Since the skin in these areas were no longer rubbing against anything, the callouses gradually disappeared.
Another method you can try is to put some lotion on the caloused areas. This will not make them go away completely but will soften them and make them less painful.

Thanks for your input.
I do appreciate it.
I'm not a fan of any kind of surgery for sure, defiantely not.
But boy I am tired of sore feet.
I had these same seed callus cut out 30 years ago.. and tried a Podiatrist ordered special inlay, which didn't help.. and had them cut out and had them cut out..and finally decided to stop paying someone to cut them out every few weeks and so have been doing it myself all these years. Yep I have dug them with a razor, used creams, used the pumice stone..Cut and cut but they always return. It's like 30 years of walking on 5 embedded sharp edged marbles. So I gave up and went to a Podiatrist again. He took lots of Xrays. He said my bones are not a problem. He seemed to have no doubt at all about what to do. He did dig them out today but they'll be back and the Dr says the only way to prevent my seed calluses from returning is to use the Laser Surgery on the "seed" of it.
Seed callus is heritary. it's not "just" a callus..They have a white center and its a real deep hard core thingy.. I can't describe it properly. It's not a wart. Yes it does envolve the bone and pressure on the skin. But as long as the so-called seed is in there it will grow back again.
My search on the web has pulled up "seed corns" but it has the perfect pics of the problem. It does say surgery is 100% effective but it is not discussing laser surgery.

So I was wondering if anyone had this Laser Surgery done on "Seed Callus". ????
