I occasionaly get a sharp pain in my head, kind of behind my right ear. It is a stabbing pain, I almost feel like I'm being shocked. This happens every few months but last night was the worst one I have ever had, it left me in tears. I have looked up ice pick headaches, but from what I've found they last about ten minutes but mine only last about ten seconds. If anyone has any ideas or info I would greatly appreciate it.

Check with your dentist, could be type of TMJ. Once in a while I will get a sharp pain like you describe and it means I have been grinding my teeth in my sleep again. Or if you clench your jaw without realizing it then the muscles can lock or push the bone slightly out of place. Any popping sound when it happens?

If none of this fits then ask your dr. about it.

I never thought about that. There is no popping sound, but it's definately worth looking into. Thanks!
