I'm just curious if anyone out there knows exactly why caffeine is bad if you are trying to lose weight. Please let me know. I do like to dring coffee and a Diet Pepsi daily. However, if a good enough explanation exists, I will quit cold turkey. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I think I read somewhere that it elevates cortisol levels

Isn't it strange though that the ECA stacks that are suppose to be "fat burners" and other diet pills for that matter , have caffiene in them. They are really confusing us out there, aren't they???????

I don't know the scientific reason that people suggest caffine isn't good for weightloss. I just wanted to write to say that when I drank plenty of coffee when I was in my weighloss phase and continue to do so and it didn't hinder the loss one bit. I drink about 5-8 cups a day and have for years. I lost 35 pounds and didn't miss a cup a coffee. :)

I don't believe caffeine will hinder weight loss for most people. The research on this is pretty consistently the opposite, in fact. Although I think Dr. Atkins was very smart about most things, this antipathy to caffeine was perpetuated at least in part by him. He felt it led to insulin rebound.
There is little or no evidence that this is so.

Also, since it can help boost physical activity, this also will help fight fat.

 Caffene dehydrates.. it will dry you out... make you thirstier... make you want more liquid.. will also give you the BUZZ.. but is also hard on the heart,it is addicting...once you replace it with regular exercise to boost your endorphins which will give you more energy naturally. I drink green tea. full of antiozidants that will do all sorts of cleaning in your body, exercise in the morning... do you know once you do a good 20 minute workout your body keeps burning fat for ours... it slows down.. but then it you do another 20 minutes later in the day it will pump it up again...

No Im not skinny,,, just someone who FInally Learned!!!

I find caffeine thermogenic and an aid to weight loss. It make excercise more palatable as well.

Even Atkins, after pooh poohing it, now sells caffeine in his Accel product....I guess HIS caffeine is better than Juan Valdez's...it sure COSTS more!
