I know a number of people who didn't have any allergies until well into adulthood. Mostly seasonal related allergies. Have you moved or changed job locations? If so, there could be environmental things you're allergic to that you weren't exposed to before.

no- i haven't moved to a new region or made any big changes in my lifestyle. i just keep picking up new allergies. i started with dust about 10 years ago, and now i have added peanuts, mold, ragweed, and dogs.

The same seems to be happening to me too... and yes, with seasonal allergies.

The same thing is happening with me; I started getting allergies at 32! AND, they seem to be getting worse every summer.

Me too, I always thought people grew "out of" allergies, but I'm 32 and have many allergies!! Environmetal along with I have deleloped asthma, which I never had - or at least knew I had. Crazy!!

Same thing with me. I've lived in the same place all of my life, and my allergies just keep getting worse. Since mine are not seasonal, I started getting allergy shots (it's been about 3 years now) and it's been a miracle! I used to rely heavily on Claritin, and Allegra, but after awhile they stopped working. Now I'm doing shots and allegra and I'm a whole new person! They are wonderful!!

for those of you who are also growing into allergies, what type of treatment have you taken/do you currently take?
i never had a consistent treatment plan, except for the year i got allergy shots. otherwise i have zyrtec but i choose not to take it every day. i wonder if this has something to do with the new allergies forming..

I never had allergies untill I was 21 and moved to Texas. About 4 months after I moved there..the cedar mold from the mountains was really bad. We lived in a valley where it got really bad. For 3 months I couldn't breath and I was sick. The doc gave me shots and I got cleared up. But when I went back to my home state of Alabama two years later I have had allergies really bad in the spring. So yes...you can go "into" allergies.

Growing into allergies seems to run in my family. It has happened to both my mom and I and has mainly been food allergies.
