Hi,

Well I ahve never been officially diagnsoed with SAD but I would say yes. Cause as soon as the dark nights beckon I am tired tired tired all the time. It happens every single year and is sooo annoying. During the summer months I wake up at the normal time but as its always dark now I feel knackered and some what demotivated and could cheerfully sleep all day - no amount of sleep is ever quite enough. I am pondering getting a light box to see if that helps the melatonin production or its something like that - the hormone that regulates sleep and wake patterns. How r you? Ilai x

Hi Annastasia,
SAD, social anxiety disorder. I have had that since the age of 12. My folks moved us around alot growing up. I have been to every state in the U.S. and lived in 7. I atended 12 schools. It is very common for kids to get socialy screwed when they move alot.

Gerd. I have bad acid reflux, I think it is the same. I have had acid relux for 6 years it happened when I quit smoking cigs and started dipping tobacco. In January of this year it moved from my throat to my stomach. I had the worst heartburn. The only relief I ever got was burping and the relief only lasted for a moment. I went to a doc, first time I had seen one of those in 12 years. He put me on protonix and checked me for H. pylori. 3 days after I went off of protonix is when all this ear, dizziness, fogginess s**t hit me.

Whatever I have I think is connected to my acid reflux if not the protonix caused it. I know protonix is a bad drug but I just dont think it could do this much crap for this lenght of time. So what are you thinking, do you feel there is a connection, if you think about it it makes good since that acid relux while you are sleeping could creep up into the E tubes.

Let me know what your thinking and take it easy, I think one day we will feel normal again.

hey guys

thanx for replying. Derek, this was my bad, i was actually talking about Seasonal Affective Disorder (seasonal Depression). i should have thought about social anxiety. infact that is what i was originally diognosed with, then it was GAD, then manic depression and finally i figured it out, its seasonal:). are you taking anything for your anxiety? just curious. i've been on several different meds and so far haven't found a good one. they all make me either want to kill myself or kill some one else. it sux! my depression and anxiety as a child is apparently what caused my GERD.

Willsmom:

i'm starting light therapy next week and will definalty let you know how it goes! i have a vitamine D deficiency and my doctor thinks it may have some thing to do with my S.D.. right now i'm taking B50 complex, and halibot liver and of course vitamin C. B complex is supposed to be great for relieving excess stress. i've been on it for about 4 months and haven't been crying nearly as much. just a suggestion. as for the lights, i'm making them myself. the only defference between a professional UVB-full sprectrum vitalight and a home made one is the electronic ballast (to speed up the frequency). other then that they're exectly the same. for me, UVB may be the answer because vit. D can only be used up by the body when there is an adiquate supply of UVB to change into a usable molecule. it's kinda nerdy stuff, so i'll stop there  .

let me know how both of you are doing!

Anastasia
