Yesterday my 8 yr. old daughter had a severe case of the hives. The only thing new she had was a Tang drink called Berry Panic.I noticed it contained Red Dye #40.On researching online on the old postings someone else said their son also had reaction from Tang. This is the only time she has drank this and luckily she only had the one pouch of it because her lips are still swollen after being on Benadryl since yesterday afternoon.Has anyone else had this experience? She hasn't had any problems with any of the dyes in foods before this.Should I let her try it one more time to be sure that is what caused it and just have the Benadryl close at hand? Thanks and hope to hear from someone soon.

It's certainly possible that it's a reaction to Red Dye #40 but there's a good chance you would have noticed the sensitivity years ago - there's Red Dye #40 in practically everything (including Children's liquid Benadryl)

It's possible that your daughter can tolerate the dye up to a certain amount before she has a reaction. Red colored drinks tend to have much more dye in them than, say, red M&M's.
