Ah now I am just venting - call me a child if you BUT boy do some people get under my skin.

Only yesturday my dear sweet mother in law called round (she never asks any more how the dizzies) but for a change did. I briefly said well usual and she said.....well of course my uncle he had the same thing you know and it was mis-diagnosed for over a year........turned out it was all stress. then give me that pitying look!! I was thinking - yeh i know what you are getting at!!

Then theres the others - oh yeh - dizzyness oh yeh i have had that! and I think BET you have soooooooo not!! its more than a brief sensation...as you all know to well.

AHHHRUGHHHH :nono:

I know this whole long winded affair is pretty boring for most who have never had it but boy I would so like to give them it for a week they would run back to me saying OH NOOOOO HELP!!

Ok thats the vent over!

yes, I can relate. I mentioned in a previous thread how I tried to relate my condition to someone by saying it was kind of like having one too many drinks without any of the "fun" effects of alcohol. They replied, "cool! That's a cheap date!" Now, they were joking but it gets old after that joke is played out over and over.

I also had my kid's irritable swimming instructor claim she too had the same condition when I told her I couldn't swim with the kids and wondered if I could have her continue their lessons even though the season ended. (that makes a lot of sense  swim instructor, not a chance, not in a pool all day!)

Sorry your mother in law was so insensitive. It's almost better not to discuss it sometimes, but then people might wonder why you are such a pill when you have a bad day! My second attack that started in June came on right before my inlaws visited. They were ok about it (at the time I had no idea what was going on and I was SO sick  ), but I still felt like I was on the examination table or something. I felt so obligated to entertain them and try to go about my business, but meanwhile I was in the worst part of my troubles. Plus I already had a reputation of being sick whenever they visited (what's up with that? ;) ). My husband jokes that I should just admit it, his parents brought on the vertigo!

I hope you get some better support soon, I know how nice it is to have a little sympathy instead of judgement!

Hey Ilia

I know how you are feeling, I had the very same conversation with my boyfriend last night. He is fab keeps reassuring me that it will get better and I just have to be patient,I think he is tired of hearing me moaning but you don't know what its like... 6 months in and I don't really feel a whole improved. I've started getting the headaches back again and this weird fluid thing in my ear, its driving me mad and then I think of you with over 2 years of this thing and it kind of puts my situation in perspective. I just wish I could get control of my life, get driving and not have to reply on others so much. I've got the dreaded hair appointment today, small space, lots of noise and heat... I used to love going to get my hair done! BTW looked for you last night on messanger maybe i have the wrong name for you??

holy good god, i feel so bad for you guys! i expect that kind of treatment from docs, because most of them are jerks, but not from family! thanx for this post. it kinda makes me appreciate how my friends, my boyfriend, and obviously family have been so supportive of me (and of course you guys:)). i'm never in short supply of a shoulder to cry on.

luckily i've only had a few people that i've wanted to kick in the teeth. mainly doctors and a couple of friends of friends. i totally agree, i'd love to give this to someone for at least a week and tell them to "live normally" like nothings wrong. i'm a pretty tough little cookie and this had me down and out for about 3 months! stress seems ot be the new age axcuse for everything! oh, and if anyone mentions menopause again, i'm 20! trust me it's not meno!

take care all and try to not let other get you down

Gosh yeh Ilia, know what you mean. Thats why it helps so much talking on here and to you on the phone! I often have the "Dizziness? I get that to" or the friends that just dont understand or the so called professionals who says they "know how disconcerting dizziness can be". Um, no, not unless youve had an inner ear disorder!!!!!!!! HATE the isolating nature of this illness.

Ilia - in answer to your other post, I am unblanced 24/7 yes! Always have been sicne this started....plus dizzy in the head but yes the offbalance thing is like everything being off and as if the world is moving slightly and I feel drunk! xxx
