I am in training with the dept of corrections and we are in the middle of qualifying with weapons. I can operate the weapon with no problems it is just so hard to concentrate with 38 other people shooting along with you at the firing range. I qualified three times with the .38 revolver, but failed the final qualification and I only have one more chance. What could I do here that would make the instructors aware of my disability, if so how to correctly ask them....which ones should I ask for? We are allowed to take medication and I am currently taking xanax .25mg, 40 mg of strattera, and 20 mg of lexapro.

There is a danger in operating equipment or being mentally restrained by mind drugs. I suggest you drop out of your present career as you may, without intention, and under mental drugs harm an innocent person. The military doesn't allow persons under mind medication to take active roles in the services. We have seen the damages of mothers that have drowned their children along with murders that the students would not have committed in the high schools of our nations against their peers because of mind drugging. There are accidents unexplained and violence as a result of profits from the mental health and counseling and pharmecutical industries desire for power over the public by mind drugging. Our court system is in shambles with the mental health and counseling scurring around the halls of justice for the profits of the drugging and services of bogus research. Our schools are infiltrated by the desease of social engineering from those industries that are gulity of crimes and attrocities against the public for profit. Our children are in harms way from the mental health and counseling industries drugging . Do the right things. Drop out.

Armyrebel4 - I have found it best to mention as little as possible about disabilities in the workplace. I want to wish you the best in reaching your goals. I do have a question though. If you find it difficult to focus with 38 other people trying to qualify - what about if you had a weapon and were in the middle of a crowd that was out of control. Would you be able to focus enough to know whether, when or how to use the weapon?

I don't think they can give you accomodations that would help you with this career. You need to be able to do certain things under certain types of conditions in order to perform your duties properly.
Maybe you could get in some extra practice?

I disagree with dropping out. A very large population of police and firemen happen to BE AD/HD. Those are very stimulating careers that attract AD/HD. These people are perfect for those careers, as it takes constant observation of the environment and these people are highly alert. If you are having trouble concentrating....practice practice...practice on concentrating while you shoot. Block everything else out. If its really a problem...biofeedback is extremely good for learning to concentrate. Don't give up!!!!!!!

I just posted on this, but have no idea where it went!!! Anyway....don't give up!!!! Police and fireman careers are exactly what AD/HD people are attracted to. They require a constant observation of their environment and the need to be highly alert. If you have trouble concentrating while shooting, practice and more practice will probably be your answer. There's also biofeedback if you are really having trouble concentrating. Honestly, the more practice you do, the more confident you'll feel. I'm afraid if you tell them you can't concentrate before you've had a chance to work on it, they may make an assumption that you are less than able to do the job. They may make a pre-judgment that wouldn't be fair to you later. Practice like crazy....and don't give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would think it to be frightning if a commercial pilot with two hundred passengers on board "just forgot to put the wheels down because the pilot was AD/HD and on mind drugs.. I would think it would be frightning because a police officer shot in a crowd at a would be robber of a candy store for a 50 cent candy bar killing a 7 year old...What would the review board befense be for this officer (Defense)...what do you expect, I'm AD/HD..what do you expect!! haha. Isn't that your statement. Be real...People on Mind medication are a danger to society and a threat to their families. By allowing them extra time in performance of grades in school through the various programs of reading them the questions or allowing them to retake tests failed and by qualifing them in employment such as nursing in which they may misdiagnose medication leading to the injury or possible death is a threat to our society. It is pretty clear that abnormals behaviors resulting in death and destruction to others are a result of mind drugs and the profits are being derived by the mental health and counseling and pharmecutical industries without legal consequences to these bogus professions who intrude into our Constitutional rights.. What if you have a corrupt psychiatrist or psycologist or mental health worker with a big smile and ill intentions and a hand full of mind drug prescriptions for you. I wouldn't allow them to play in my mind. We have already allowed the judicial courts to be run by evaluation of the mental health and counseling industries along with forced mind drugging and it is clear that the court systems are violating the " Congressional Bounty Hunters Act" in supplying patients to the mental health industry for their profits and are getting so to speak a head job from those industries based on lies and their neverending bogus research to prove their therories. The school systems are in shambles with the mind drugs being pushed under various agreements for further funding on educations on the number of children indused into psychotropic drugging and with such statements that "your son/daughter could be so much smarter if only on a medication of speed which it basically is. The whole system of mental health and counseling along with the pharmecutical industries is corrupt and smells like a member of terrorist group working against the best interest of Americans and democratic world governments.

You have a very good point. Accidents do happen and I would not want a member of my family injured or killed because of someone taking mind drugs. I agree that sensitive employment should be monitored for drugs. Police often ask if someone is on a drug when arresting for their protection. We have gone too far in prescribing drugs to too many children in school and as a result we harmed our children and the future of this nation.
