Do u guys think I'm overreacting? Well last night I was drinking a beer. When all of a sudden a female friend grabbed it and took a sip. Well a week ago I noticed she had a cold sore. It seemed to have almost gone away by yesterday, then again she had on lipstick. Well either way Im scared maybe I could have caught herpes this way. Is it possible? I took a sip of that same beer about 10 min. after she did. I was just gonna leave it there but I grabbed it a drank out of it again. Is it possible to contract HSV1 or am I overreacting? Thanks.

Whether you're overreacting or not doesn't really matter, what's done is done. It sounds like you're in the clear if, as you say, her sore was pretty much gone. It would seem that comming into contact with air and alcohol, the herpes virus would die pretty quickly anyway. Odds are that you also have H1 antibodies which would offer you some protection. If you've not gotten any signs of a coldsore yet, my guess it you're in the clear. Hope so.

I didnt think I even had a problem at all. I would have never guessed that this situation would create a risk. I was sure that after a few minutes the virus would have died. I hope Im ok. I guess I'll find out within the next few weeks.
