I have been having gum pain so I finally broke down and went to the dentist. The price they quoted me over the phone was $40 for visit $90 for x-rays and $100 for cleaning = $230 I had tarter build up so they debraded my teeth (shot water or something all over my teeth) to remove the tarter then the hygeinest scraped my teeth a little and took x-rays. the dentist then came in to check for cavities and of course I had a good amount a total of 10, 4 that have to be filled within the next 2 months. the hygeinest then came back in and said she is breaking my cleaning up so, I have to go back a second time and have my teeth lightly scraped polished and flossed for $43 and pay an additional $40 for another office visit. My question is what did I pay for? was that an actual cleaning should'nt my teeth be sparkling for $100 did I get ripped off or is this normal? please answer me I'm very confused. thank you my total was as they quoted $230

I might be willing to pay the office visit, but I wouldn't pay the 43 for the scraping and polishing, because that is cleaning and you already paid 100 dollars for that.
Don't let them rip you off. Stand your ground and let them know you won't be taken by them.

Boy. What a rip. So each time you walk in there it's $40? I've never heard of that for dentists; only for doctors. Maybe he wants his patients to help him buy his wife a Mercedes for Christmas?
