Hi! Thanks for answering my last post! I really appreciate your help.

I was wondering if you ever have any pain in your heart? I went to shopping yesterday with my family. It was a challenge to say the least!

I had another spell in the middle of the night with my heart pounding about 15 minutes. I didn't get up to check my pulse but I know it would have been high. This morning I felt a fast, sharp pain in the area of my heart. That scares me. Did you ever have any pain like that? Also, right before I had the racing heart, I got really cold first and then it started in and then I got hot. It is weird.

I have also been having low blood pressure. Lower than normal. I took my blood pressure and it was 115 over 71 and pulse of 63. I am surprised that my pulse can be that low. I took it at Sam's even.

Something else that I have been wondering about... Since the brain has to compensate and it is so obvious that all that is going on when I get out in a big mall or store. You just feel it so strong! But, why do I still feel imbalanced when I am at home and my brain surely should have this part of my vision taken care of since I am at home all the time. Is there more going on than just the brain basically memorizing what it is seeing?

Just had that thought yesterday and thought, hmmm... another question for subs! :)

Again, thanks for your help and encouragement. I especially need it after yesterday. I want so much to do normal things again. It is so hard to go to the mall and find out how bad I am.

Hope you are having a wonderful day!!!

Blessings!

Hi Vicki

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

..."ever have any pain in your heart".......

Nope---never had that occur---of course like many here---did have the racing heart---from all the adrenalin---flowing around the body---when/as the brain tries to figure out and correct for the vestibular probs---but no heart pain.

.."why do I still feel imbalanced when I am at home"....

..."more going on than just the brain basically memorizing what it is seeing?"...

The problems at the malls/stores etc... is the one associated with your peripheral vision---as you know---normally as you go down aisles, etc..the peripheral vision from both eyes cancel(null out)---so no illusion of movement---of the shelves-- is detected--from your peripheral vision---as you move down the aisles---just what your seeing from head on---with the vestibular problem---to some degree that does not happen---so the brain is getting signals--from your vision--that makes it think--your moving--and the shelves are moving---very confusing--to the equilibrium center---thats for sure....the same thing can happen anywhere---to more or lessor degree---dependent on the visual content---of the scene---your eyes are seeing----so it can be more or less pronounced--depending on what your seeing---not where you are---it is just that normally the mall and the scenes and associated with that environment---and what your doing within the scene---have the content/action---that require---a lot of sorting out by the brain---normally no prob---but with this---stuff---big prob---for most---it is the same set of parameters---at home(or any were)---give it(brain/equilibrium center) the right scene--and bingo!!

The brain is not memorizing what it is seeing---the brain's equilibrium center--is reacting to what signals your vision(eyes) are giving it---and what signals your vestibular system are giving it---and---trying to---derive the correct position/orientation of--your body spatially--and testing--to see if it(they) match what other body sensor/systems(signals) are giving/telling it---this goes on continuously---with the peripheral vision prob---which happens no matter where you are---just more pronounced--in certain visual scenes---the vision(eyes) are fine---it is just that---on one side or the other---the vestibular injury--is keeping your peripheral vision information--as you move---from being nulled out(balanced out)---but nothing is being memorized---it is all reaction---to the visual scene and your movements through it.

What is being recalled/reestablished/memorized from/in long term memory and fine tuned as you move about---no matter where---or what visual scene--your in/seeing---is the "preplanned movement templates" that you developed and stored in memory--from the time you made your first movement as a baby---it is just the last "nanosecond(s)" that require reestablishment with the fine tuning---for each stored "preplanned movement template"---but it take---repetitive movements---to reestablish and lock in the fine tunning---i.e., VRT & Compensation!

Whoa, Subs! It is a very complicated system that obviously really struggles when the inner ear is "off"! Thanks for the information, again.

I was wondering something else (of course!). Is it good for me to go to malls and put myself into those situations? Will it help me compensate better than avoiding them as long as I go within a reasonable amount of time and don't overdo? What if a person could go to a mall type setting, say for about 30 minutes a day. Would that help or hurt?

Hi Vicki

...."Is it good for me to go to malls"...

Don't think I would start there---At least I did not start there---I started in grocery stores---a tough environment---but you can get a shopping cart---to hold on to for dear life---and in the beginning--that what it is---but--I would go up and down the aisles--go slow--30 min is good--what I did---was-- split--the list up--so as I could do it--in say--30 min---might have to go back again---the next day---kept that up--each time---think it was a little better--did take some time--to feel---sort of ok---once I---sort of felt---kind of comfortable---there, i.e., got the point where I could get the entire grocery list--in one visit---started on the malls---they were---tougher--so much movement--in the scenes--plus--people--to maneuver---around, etc....that took more time--then overcoming the grocery store---in any case---that is what I did

--Now go to both place with out any prob---in fact feel---good--out there--getting stuff---for Santa :D ---well except for the fact--if I don't stop the fun shortly--will be broke---and then just be able to look

You got the right ideas and a good attitude---Vicki---good to find out all you can about this---it is your way out---i.e., understand it & then beat it---your on the right track!!

Try and remember---it is nothing basically/fundamentally wrong with you--it is just some bad electrical signals---generated---by an injury to a sensor(vestibular)---which will repair it self--either---by relying on the good(vestibular) side "more"---or---regrowing/repairing/healing the nerves on the bad side--it will take time--and you need to help---the compensation--but it will go---as it does for most!!---all you need to do---is understand it---for what it is and what it is not---that will help---you keep it together---will not be pleasant--but it will be over!!
