LOVE FOR MOM

mom is on third week of memantine.
next she week will be on the full recommended dosage
we also cut the dosage of exelon by 33%
results so far:
she is much calmer than before.
is now dressing herself without much help from others
her dilusions have subsided.
now telling jokes
remembering people by name and not getting frustrated if she
doest remember
and today is walking much better
things look promising at least for the short term.
i know it probably wont last long, but if we can get a few good
months from this drug regamine. it will be well worth it.
GOD BLESS ALL WHO ARE IN OUR CARE
AND GOD BLESS ALL THE CARE GIVERS

Since you started memantine concurrently with the subsidence of Exelon, it's hard to know whether the observed changes are the result of the introduction of one drug or the reduction of another. Have you ever tapered Exelon before, with no concurrent introduction of another drug? If so, what were your observations?
What stage of dementia/AD is your loved one?
Glad to hear you're getting some peace and mom is regaining some cognition and lucidity. Small things can be large gifts....
Best wishes!
