I am 9 weeks post-op bunionectomy, right foot. Today I scheduled my left foot surgery for Wednesday next week. At that time I'll be over 10 weeks in my recovery. My doctor told me that the x-rays look very good, the bones are fused and everything looks normal. He told me it takes a full year for the bones to heal completely but at this point they've healed enough to support my weight for regular activities. I'd like to know if any of you've had two surgeries within two months, was your second surgery somehow affected by the short period of time between the two, any complications? Some of you post in your messages that second surgery is not recommended for 5-6 months, why is that?
Thanks :)

I am 3 1/2 weeks post op from a left foot bunionectomy and work done on my little toe as it was rotated and I was walking on it. I was 8 weeks post op on my right foot when I had the surgery. My surgeries weren't as complicated as some of the others on the board. I went home in a hard soled walking show and used crutches on the first foot for only 1 week and 4 days on the second foot. I really didn't have to many problems with the first foot just a little soreness during the first week after the second surgery as you tend to rely on it more. I am starting to wear an athletic shoe on the foot I just had surgery on, I am up to 5 hrs today it's really weird my big toe area doesn't feel too bad just a little sore but boy that little toe does not like wearing a shoe. I go as long as I can tolerate and then its either take off the shoe or hit the pain pills and I don't want to do that. I need to be able to wear my shoes 13 hours for when I go back to work in 2 1/2 weeks...we'll see..

Thanks for the info and good luck in your recovery. It does sound like your procedure was not as complicated as mine, I was not allowed to put weight on my foot for 7 weeks and I was in a cast for 6 weeks. I've been walking in regular shoes for 2 days now and it gets better every day. I think I am up to the next challenge, just wanted to know other people's experience :)
