Hi, this will be my first posting on this site, but I am desperate for advice. I am a 19 year old college student in my first semster at UF. About four weeks ago, I started to have pressure feelings on my head, as though someone were squeezing my entire head, and it felt like I was sitting still, but the room was moving a little. It was a pulsating pain, and at times it felt as though I were shaking and got so bad that I thought I might pass out. It also felt as though I were on an airplane the way that people sounded to me, and how I sounded to myself.
I saw a doctor who prescribed Lamisil, which supposedly cures a yeast infection of the middle ear. The first two days of the pills, I felt almost 100% better, but after that, some symptoms returned, not as bad as before though. I felt like I still had pressure in my head, and felt like it was behind my nose, cheekbones and forehead. My left ear would sometimes feel very hot, but it was never warmer than the other ear. My throat was also sore, especially in the morning making it difficult to swallow.
I saw the doctor again, and he prescribed an antiboitic, the name of which I can't remember, but it is a cousin to penicillin. I took 4 pills a day for about 4 days. The symptoms lessened, but as I took the pills, my ears began popping and crackling. My face still felt full of pressure in the beginning, but finally lessened. It has been a little over a week since I completed that set of pills.
Now, I have been feeling the slight dizziness I felt in the beginning at certain times of the day that usually doesn't last very long. I still have the sore throat and what feels like mucus draining in the back of my throat. My ears still pop and crackles almost all the time, and sometimes quite loudly. I have been having headaches that localize around my temples usually, but sometimes in the forehead over my eyes. Other times the back of my head feels very tender and hurts occassionally. Over Thanksgiving, I would feel suddenly very tired and as though I couldn't stand any longer, but after I ate a meal, or drank a glass of water I would feel more energized.
I have no fever, no vomiting, but occassional nausea when I am very hungry or right after eating. I am able to breathe through my nose most of the day, except right before I go to sleep and when I wake up in the morning. I have no idea exactly what is wrong with me, and if someone could give me some advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for bearing through the long explanation :)

Sounds like a sinus infection to me. If you are taking one of the older antibiotics they don't work. A lot of bacteria has become resistant to the older antibiotics. If you don't improve in a couple days I would ask your Doc to prescribe a newer antibiotic. My Doc told me that the antibiotic avelox is about the best antibiotic out there for sinus infections. I would go to an Ears nose and throat doc.......they deal with this all the time.

Thanks for the response, this is what I thought it was. Since I stopped taking the old antiboitics, if it hasn't cleared up will it get worse again, or eventually go away on it's own? The dizzyness is the part that gets me, because now I don't have nearly as much pressure, barely any at all, except maybe for a little while on few days. Thanks again for the response.

I would see an Ears Nose throat Doc. to make sure it is completely gone....or to see if another antibiotic is in order. That of course is if it caused by bacteria. If it is viral then it has to run its course. The feelings of dizziness are most likely caused by the congestion and inflamation.
