Around 3 - 4 months back, whilst playing football, someone stood on my toe with studs during the game. Half my toe nail instantly bruised, it remained a purple/black sort of colour for a few days or so. Now, the half that was bruised is a brown colour, does this mean it's dead? If so, what next? Will it fall off naturally? baring in mind that it's been that colour for quite a while. Any help is much appreciated

There is probably a new nail growing in under the damaged one. The new one will eventually push the old dead nail off.

I'm inclined to think the brown color is normal. It's like when you get a bruise, it is black and blue. Then it usually turns into a brownish, yellowish color before it clears.
