I have hopefully gotten our son's lack of sleep problem figured out. He needs his tonsils out. An ENT is going to check for the removal of his adenoids as well. We saw a behavioral psychologist while we were at the hospital, and she said that alot of families use melatonin for their kids. She didnt' RECOMMEND it if ya know what I mean, but she said that ALOT OF FAMILIES USE MELATONIN... ;) So I did some research about it today and it said that long term use or high dosages can cause problems in puberty and with the reproductive system. I am wondering if anyone has tried it with their kids, or have tried something natural that works for kids. My son is 4.

One of my friend's daughters has been pegged a "behavior problem" for a few years and she finally had her adnoids and tonsils taken out. The child is a COMPLETLY different person now. Doing that ALONE should help your child sleep better.
I would not try anything that could cause long term affects. Especially puberty related issues. Kids have enough problems with puberty!
Have you tried any type of smells? Like the baby lotion that is for relaxing them? Or giving him a nice warm bath and a good routine when he goes to bed? All of that will help with sleeping. Maybe even some nice soothing music that will play over and over at night?

good luck, I well remember the days of sleep deprivation and I FEEL FOR YOU!

Hello, No daytime naps, a slow paced before bed activity like drawing, and a bedtime story.
