Today I got a filling. No big deal, have had about a million of them. As I was driving home I felt sort of dizzy. By the time I got home, the room was spinning and turning and I felt my eyes keep darting back and forth and I couldn't stop them. And I had a killer headache. I managed to lay down for a little while and the spinning and eye movements thing has stopped. This sort of happened about 2 years ago after a filling except it included nauseau and I threw up. Has this ever happened to anyone? I need to know what happened to me. Thanks.

If you have a lot of "silver" fillings, then you should be made aware that these are really mostly composed of mercury. This mercury leaks constantly from these dental amalgams. A person can be exposed to an extra amount of mercury during this placement.
I've read of people having problems like that, right after having these mercury fillings placed. For me, I noticed increased pains after a tooth broke and exposed one dental amalgam. Subsequently I made the decision to have all my gray-black mercury fillings replaced with white fillings. I believe I got porcelain. That was about 10 years ago.
For years I struggled with fibromyalgia symptoms, which included joint pain, urinary problems, headaches, and numerous other ailments like gum disease and loose teeth. I always fought this with health foods, herbs, and limited exercise. I wasn't completely successful in getting my health back, until I got rid of those poisonous mercury fillings (also called dental amalgams).
In 1978 a doctor told me to not run more than a hundred yards, to take 10 aspirins a day, that I was too fat and too old. Today, about 25 years later, I consistently run nearly 20 miles a week (except when I get the flu for a few days like today :o ).
What makes this situation so difficult for us that have this problem, is that in general, the dental and medical community is sooooo slow to accept that some of us could have these problems with dental amalgams and their slow release of mercury. Mercury is much more poisonous then lead. It's one of the most poisonous substances for mankind, next to plutonium. It only takes an extremely small amount to affect some people.
I can't say if your problems are related to this, but I can say that you should be aware that these amalgams contain mercury, and as long as you have these amalgams you are being constantly exposed to its dangers. The more amalgams a person has, in general, the more the exposure. The body can reach a point in which is just can't support this overload of mercury and it reacts in different ways. There's many people that have been affected by this. I wish the medical communities would take more time and research to understand this better.
If you would like more information about this, please let me know.

Thanks for responding. I do have many silver fillings but the one I received when I got sick was a porcelain. I'm in the process of replacing them all but that's expensive.

Some people say that there's quite a bit of exposure to mercury when the old mercury filling is removed. Did you have a dental dam, and good ventilation during that process?
I did know someone that had trouble with one white filling, but I don't know what the material was. There's different cementing agents too, that could possibly cause a reaction. I think there's so much to learn about how different dental restoration materials can affect our health.
I had a naturopath test me for allergic reactions before I had my white fillings placed in. I didn't want to "go from the frying pan to the fire".
